Bos sends:KG
Dal sends: Josh Howard, Dampier(non guaranteed for next year)

We would have enough to offer a max contract and then some.

Cuban wants a championship badly and will spend to get it .

Edit

It doesn't necessarily have to be this trade, but maybe a contender thinks they are KG(at 80%) away from winning it all?

We would also have to trade sheed for expiring after further research, but that wouldn't be to hard I am sure some contender would do it.

Why would dallas be interested helping us out by taking on KG's massive contract when they clearly aren't close in the western conference, especially if they have to trade us howard to get it done?

How would they play dirk and KG at the same time? would one of them move to center? I don't think either Dirk or KG can take the pounding the center position requires full time.

Even if they did, who alters thier game to become the low post option? both of them prefer to be 15 and out.

If i'm dallas's GM, this trade holds little interest for me.

Unfortunately, KG is basically untradable right now.

I think they are pretty close. Add a relatively healthy KG next to Marion and Dirk thats a very good front court

I don't think it is. It's awful defensively at the center spot.

As i editied in above, it also has no real low post option. Both Dirk and KG are jump shooting bigs first, low post players second.

EDIT: also, who's going to slash for them with howard gone, marion?

Well it doesnt have to be Dallas just get an expiring from any contender.

I would send him to cleveland for Big Z and Hickson if PP is done it would be the smart thing to do if you can get a contender to bite .

I don't think any contender is going to bite. KG's contract and the fact that his knee is still a huge ? is a big sticking point.

I dunno if it'd be possible to trade KG but we'd have to look at options if PP really were done for the year.  Our window would immediately close for this year and probably be done for the following years.

Yeah, I think if Paul is done for the year, we're essentially just totally screwed.  We've made our bed and we have to lie in it, whether that means a championship or ending another season with one of our key players on the bench and having nothing but the prospect of watching this team gradually decline to look forward to.

No.

That's really all I have to say about this idea.

care to give any explanation?

expiring contracts of Ray and whoever we get for KG would allow us to rebuild as soon as next year

We could possibly have a roster of

PG: Rondo
SG: Joe Johnson? or Ray resigned cheap
SF: PP
PF: Amare? Bosh?
 C: Perk

If the Celtics wanted to give Garnett away in a salary dump ...

They could send him to San Antonio for Richard Jefferson and parts. That Spurs team wins the title this season.

I can't understand the negative reaction to a Dirk Nowitzki + Kevin Garnett pairing. That would be the single most dominant big man pairing in the NBA today. A huge advantage for Dallas.

I think that Mavs team is short a scorer though. A solid second scoring option behind Dirk. Garnett, Kidd and Marion all make massive contributions without scoring but are unreliable as go-to scorers at this point in their respective careers. I struggle to see a team with Jason Terry as their second scoring option being a contender.

If Dallas did make this trade, they would be much closer to a title than they are today.

I understand they are both great shooters. You would have to explain to me how two thin PF's would suddenly be able to play center against the likes of bynum, howard, ect.

Also, both of them are allergic to going to the post. How would dallas function with both of them on the floor?

Just because they are both great players doesn't mean playing one of them out of position makes a great front court.
