The only reason the window is "shut" is because Danny has failed to get a bench...Ray, PP, KG and Rondo play WAY too many minutes the last 2 years if we had a bench we would still be in it.

OUR BENCH SUCKS! thats why the window closed...think about it the Cavs and Lakers have deep teams AND are younger then us. Theyre going to be way more fresh come playoff time while we're going to be limping to the 2nd round.

Name the bench players on the Cavs and the Lakers that are significantly better than our bench guys.

Are you as excited as I am for the inevitable "LEON POWE, DANNY SHOULD HAVE RE-SIGNED HIM!!!!1!!!1!!!1" (in spite of the fact that he has yet to play a minute this season) post?

Stunned, Steve, that it hasn't come up already, along with the equally inevitable "Give Tony Allen Ray's minutes" thread.

UPDATE: Oops, it appears I was one post late with that last thought about Parachute Man.

Feet on the floor, baby. Feet on the floor.

If you don't think the Powe-Marbury-Mikki power trio solves all our problems right now, you're kidding yourself.

P.S. I don't actually need to put the winking smiley face above, right?  We're all clear that this is tongue-in-cheek?

Seriously, do the fans really believe the window is closed?! I'm shocked by such a pessimism.

I knew at the beginning of the season that this year is probably the last one during which we can truly win a championship but if you take a bad month of January to claim that we have no chances of winning it all come playoffs time... wow.

People need to calm down, seriously. Please visit this thread by the way, maybe you won't be so drastic after reading it :http://forums.celticsblog.com/index.php?topic=34598.0

TP, Drucci.

Seriously....another thread that wouldn't have grown legs if Boston had beaten ATL.

No disrespect to anyone here who believes the title of this thread, but I roll a little differently.

I certainly haven't read all of the posts here but enough to get the basic idea. I really dont think we are through yet though. We certainly haven't looked like contenders lately but really this team has yet to be anywhere close to fully healthy yet. If we just had KG playing an example of a good game for him this year we might have won both the Atlanta and the Orlando games! Throw in Marquis getting healthy, Pierce playing another 10 games on his recovering knee, BBD getting a little more playing time and all of a sudden this team looks a whole lot better.

So maybe we should have overpaid for Posey and kept the gang together for two more title runs. Did not work out that way.

I'm not too happy with the Sheed right now. Garnett is playing like a dog and maybe cooked. Glennie got himself hurt. Marquis Daniels and House haven't given us much support. Tony Allen and Brian Scalabrine have had to play too much.  Ray Allen goes into shooting slumps.

Nice job by Danny putting this outfit together.

I concluded that the window closed some time ago.  If they had beaten Atlanta by 20 that would not have changed my mind.

i agree...there are some here who think this is a one-game reaction.  it's not - there is a pattern that is developing on this team, and being swept by the Hawks (lest we forget) solidified that thought.

One of our Posters on here reminded me that we were swept by the Wiz in 2007-2008, and we all know what the end result of that season was.....

Only if KG does not get healthier and play closer to the level we came to expect.
This is my take too.  A healthy KG changes everything.  And I agree that our bench is below that of the other championship contenders, but I still think we could win it if everyone ever gets healthy.
As far as the Leon thing goes, I think it's crazy to say its good that we didn't sign him because he hasn't played yet.  So what?  We pick up players late in the year every freaking year- Mikki Moore, Marbury, Cassell, PJ Brown.  I for one would like to be picking up a Leon Powe in a few weeks.  He plays with an energy and toughness that this team is lacking whether he is 100% or not.
I still think Ray gives us a better shot to win it than Monta Ellis and some of the young guys he's rumored to be traded for, but the energy infusion a guy like Ellis would provide is very very appealing.
Right now we do look old and tired and lethargic but I don't think the window is closed.  Everyone is more fired up in the playoffs and there are no back to backs.  If we ever get healthy, and that is a pretty big "if" at this point, I still think we have as good a shot as anyone to win the whole thing.

Yeah I was just discussing this with some Laker Bloggers a few hours ago - the Powe thing. I still feel we did right by him..that's just me.

We did draft him and gave him an opportunity. Yes I was as upset about us Not Signing him as anyone else, but from a Business and a Player perspective, Danny did the right thing.

Imagine if we had resigned Powe - then Shelden wouldn't have come. And we were going to be without Glen regardless - until the end of December....

..which leads us to the Grim fact that if we had resigned Powe, the Only Big off of our Bench Would have been Sheed.....We would have had Powe on the shelf until after the All-Star game or so and we would not have had Glen until end of December.

And Shelden's tough play helped us win a few games early on. We would have probably been like 27 and 17 or so without him grabbing some boards and getting the garbage buckets like he did early on.

So based off of my opinion DA did right by Powe and The Celtics.

Apologize for going slightly off topic there.

Yeah, Shelden filled a void earlier, but he's not good enough to see a single playoff minute.  I really hope Baby gets it in gear.  I'm not 100% against what Ainge did to Powe, but I find it absurd that he'd be useless to us because he isn't playing before the allstar break.  There is a lot of season left.

Good Point about Glen, but could you imagine the atmosphere here on the Blog if our bench was that thin early on?

I think the Celtics bench can be fine once the KG issue is better.

Wallace, Daniels, House and Davis have shown what they can do in their careers.  I have little doubt they will be able to provide before the season is over.

Yeah it would have been a rough couple of weeks.
