Only if KG does not get healthier and play closer to the level we came to expect.
This is my take too. A healthy KG changes everything. And I agree that our bench is below that of the other championship contenders, but I still think we could win it if everyone ever gets healthy.
As far as the Leon thing goes, I think it's crazy to say its good that we didn't sign him because he hasn't played yet. So what? We pick up players late in the year every freaking year- Mikki Moore, Marbury, Cassell, PJ Brown. I for one would like to be picking up a Leon Powe in a few weeks. He plays with an energy and toughness that this team is lacking whether he is 100% or not.
I still think Ray gives us a better shot to win it than Monta Ellis and some of the young guys he's rumored to be traded for, but the energy infusion a guy like Ellis would provide is very very appealing.
Right now we do look old and tired and lethargic but I don't think the window is closed. Everyone is more fired up in the playoffs and there are no back to backs. If we ever get healthy, and that is a pretty big "if" at this point, I still think we have as good a shot as anyone to win the whole thing.
Yeah I was just discussing this with some Laker Bloggers a few hours ago - the Powe thing. I still feel we did right by him..that's just me.
We did draft him and gave him an opportunity. Yes I was as upset about us Not Signing him as anyone else, but from a Business and a Player perspective, Danny did the right thing.
Imagine if we had resigned Powe - then Shelden wouldn't have come. And we were going to be without Glen regardless - until the end of December....
..which leads us to the Grim fact that if we had resigned Powe, the Only Big off of our Bench Would have been Sheed.....We would have had Powe on the shelf until after the All-Star game or so and we would not have had Glen until end of December.
And Shelden's tough play helped us win a few games early on. We would have probably been like 27 and 17 or so without him grabbing some boards and getting the garbage buckets like he did early on.
So based off of my opinion DA did right by Powe and The Celtics.
Apologize for going slightly off topic there.
