I hope that i can laugh at this post when were raising banner 18 but without a tweak to the bench. I don't see it happening.

The current bench, or the bench when we are healthy?  Because the bench when we are healthy (House, Daniels, Davis, Sheed) is arguably the best bench in basketball.

Agreed.  I'd like to see a small upgrade somewhere, but honestly, I have no questions about this team if healthy.

If we're healthy, the bench is fine.

If one of the starters is out, the bench probably won't make much of a difference.

I just don't think there are any upgrades available, for when this team is healthy, unless they can find a way to pry a guy like Ridnour or Blake away.

This team has two legit NBA starters off the bench in Wallace and Daniels, another borderline starter in Davis, and a very good bench player in House.

Really, I think anything this team can do now is just for depth, so if there are injuries come playoff time, they have better 10-12th men.  I would be very surprised if they are able to upgrade the top 9...and I mean that in a good way.

Yeah, I think you're probably right.

I think it may make sense for Danny to try to make a trade for a player on a 2-year contract that upgrades a rotation player slightly, while also providing some stability for next year.  That's why I like Salmons, but there are probably other guys out there.

I think that Eddie is probably the most replaceable player in the rotation, if something presents itself.

I agree with this, particularly your perspective on Eddie. I'd like to see a little bigger splash with our exprings (not including ray and quis), but agree the Cs are unlikely to do so.

I have a strong feeling that we will have an opportunity to sign a player just as good as anyone we could get with our expiring contracts for the vet minimum once the buyouts start.

if we're healty, if we're healty, if we're healty......
BUT.
we' are not healty, unfortunately.
And probably we will not be healty in post season.
We got a lot of guys with big problems.
Garnett, Daniels (as usual), Pierce (knee troubles), and let's hope this list is finished.
So we can't count on how strong we are healty, because we're not. We must think about us in this moment, in this situation, and what we can do for improving a little bit.
In my opinion, we do not have a backup for Rondo. So do you think he will play 40minutes per game everytime?
perhaps we don't have a backup for Pierce.
or maybe you're hoping in Marquis (always injured) daniels?
I hope he will be fine and he can help us because he got talent, but I'm not trusting him.

If KG was healthy last year we could have won a title with a bench of House, Allen, Marbury, Davis, Scal and Mikki Moore. How do you think this bench stacks up to that one?

The thing is, most of those guys are not replaceable.  You are not going to find a replacement for KG and Pierce.  There is little reason to believe Daniels won't be back just fine (he has filled his injury quota for the year).

Danny's only choice is to either look at the team as they will be when they are healthy, or blow it up.  If he has reason to believe Pierce and/or KG will break down, then its all futile anyways.

I know, but in my opinion, if you wanna have a lot of chance that KG and PP will be fine in post season, you must upgrade your bench.
We actually have not a back up for PP. So he will play too much.
We can also send to the bench PP in regular season if we have a better substitute .....
We can also give a lot of rest for Rondo, if we take a backup in his position.
If Rondo has an headache who is the substitute?^ J.R. (poor) Giddens? In a playoff series?
This team is expensive. so they can't put everything in the garbage because injuries. They must spend again and try everything to win banner num.18.

Garnett and Pierce don't have big problems right now. And Daniels is expected back in a month. Will we be perfectly healthy? Probably not. Do we need to be perfectly healthy? No. Do any players on the team currently have injuries that will preventing them from being healthy and playing well in the playoffs? No.

despite i'm italian, I follow celtics by years.
Paul Pierce, my fav. player, has a lot of problems on his right knee. So, i'm not saying he 's finished. I'm only saying we must give him an help. In my opinion this help is not Marquis, a guy that every year has a lot of injuries, and the most important he can't shoot. You may ask to Pacers fans.
I can't trust Marquis. I'm not a fan of Posey, but I think we need a similar player, one more complete than Marquis.
And then, I repeat, we need a backup for Rajon.
C'mon, the only thought of seeing J.R. Giddens in the starting lineup is making me sick.

I read all of these explanations about the injuries, why the bench is weak, and I buy 90 percent of them. Yet, I see no one answering my question: Why was the effort so poor last night against Dallas? Why did the Celts look like the team coming off a game the day before? Why did Rondo play the second half like he was in a coma? And on and on and on. KG being hurt is not the answer to a lot of these questions in my opinion. There seems to be an ongoing, general malaise with this team.

I agree.
We can't pretend that certain players are doing everytime 40 minutes per game at high levels.
is simply impossibile.
Every team who has championship ideas, has at least a backup for every position. But not us.
anyway, maybe we got other problems, despite injuries.
Maybe a not perfect coaching? Just asking.

Because they are a veteran team who is bored with the regular season?

I agree that the team has been sleepwalking through most of the season (they did the same thing last season).  But that is not Danny's problem.  If they bring in someone new, it is not going to change the fact that the core players on the team simply are not that interested right now (and won't be until April).

This team was sleepwalking like this in many games, even when KG was healthy.  This is just what happens on most teams in the C's position.  They don't have "hunger" for the regular season.  Their only goal is winning a championship.

Although I will say, I think Rondo was hurting after his fall in the first half, and that is why he turned down the burners in the second half.

I think that fall probably affected his play. When it happened I assumed he'd be slowed in the 2nd half after sitting for a while.
