I'd rather Rondo, Eddie, and Hudson not have to deal with AI's incessant chirping about playing time.

Are you joking?

Do you know how easy Eddie's life would be if AI was handling the ball?

Lester Hudson? OMG wow.....we are competing for a championship aren't we?

And you want to see Lester Hudson....this isn't summer league dude.

My point is that it's a distraction. In addition to stuff going on behind the scenes, it's going to be a media circus. We're competing for a championship; we don't need any side plots.

First, I don't think AI is coming here, and that's probably good.  We will win with or without him this season...

But that's why he might fit off the bench.  "Hey, AI, we don't need you, but you can definitely help us off the bench to win #18.  It's your choice:  You can do for us what Payton did for Miami in '06, or you can end your career like Marbury did.  Work it out."

Unlike many teams, AI isn't good enough these days, and our 5 are too strong, for us to tinker with lineups to meet any individual player's fancies.  If Larry Brown is right, and I think he is, when he says that dealing with players like AI is easy:  all you have to do is be straight with them, then he could fit well here with the team and coach we have, if he chooses to.

Can we not agree that he would be an upgrade to House off the bench?  Granted AI is no point guard, but he can at least get the friggen ball over half court.

Eddie's life certainly would be easier: his minutes would be cut in half, or more.

Iverson simply won't stand for 20 minutes a night. He's already made that abundantly clear.

A bigger distraction would be if Orlando or Cleveland signs AI and hurts our chances to compete for that title.

Signing AI at the very least prevents other teams from having him.

I am 100% believer that AI won't choke in the playoffs like Mo Williams and any form of AI is 100x better than Jason Williams or a hurt Jameer Nelson.

Yes, if AI has nothing to gain from playing only 20 minutes per game, he won't stand for it.

But if a championship is in the cards or playoff basketball, he most certainly will stand for it.

Honestly, I'm beginning to think that winning isn't about talent. It's about focus. You need talent, yes - but look at the past couple of games. We have abundant talent, but we've been struggling. With AI around, we're not going to be focused.

Says who?  Has he ever said that?  And even if he did say that what makes you think he means it?

Hasn't he said in the past that he is OK with coming off the bench?  Then as soon as he actually has do it--not OK anymore.

Well, he did imply that.  In his tirade about coming off the bench in Memphis, he said that it would not be an issue if they were winning, but since they were losing, he felt he needed to be out there.

OK, well it's easy for him to say that.  I just don't believe that he actually means it.  He's not dumb...he must have known that Memphis was not going to be good this season.  He signed with Memphis, IMO, thinking that it was his best opportunity to show the world that he could still ball.  That right there shows you what his motivation is.

I bet if he was offered 20 mins/night by the Celtics and 35 min/night with the Bobcats he would choose the bobcats quick.

nick, what does anything the Knicks do have any credence whatsoever?

In my book, if the Knicks don't want AI, then the obvious correct or right course of action is to WANT AI.

This isn't the Isiah Knicks anymore. This is the Donnie Walsh/Mike D'Antoni Knicks that have real talent evaluation and team building skills. That they don't want Iverson, speaks volumes for how horrible Iverson is perceived as an NBA entity.

What Larry Brown said was that you can't manage Iverson's minutes and that you have to let him play the way he plays.

What that means is no bench time, no coming off the bench and no attempting to force him into a team offensive and defensive structure. Just let him do whatever the hell he wants.

How is that going to help any team in this league?

Let Cleveland add AI to the list of midgets pretending to play defense that the Cavs have. Let the Magic add Iverson and have their ball movement and defensive pressure from the PG position disappear. It makes them worse, not better.
