I was just watching Comcast Sports Tonight  and they had a segment saying that AI could be coming to Boston. Donny Marshall said he has talked to players around the league and  players on the C's an they said that it definitely could happen ....

Here's some reasons that I think this rumor could have some heat to it.

1) Danny almost traded for him a few years ago, but didn't want to give up Big Al. Danny obviously likes his talent so you know there was interest at one time.

2) The Marbury situation. Danny isn't afraid to take a gamble on a talent other teams think are cancers .

3) He could put this team over the top , if he was really willing to come off the bench , which he said he would do for a contender but not for a young team like Memphis.

4)
Gives us insurance in case Ray or Rondo gets injured . He would at least still give us a shot at contending for a title.

5)
Both Ray and PP could get some rest because AI could play both PG and SG. Daniels could now be PP's full time backup at SF.

No way man, he's left two consecutive teams in 1 year because he wont come off the bench, now he's gonna come in and play like a consummate professional?  I'm not buyin' it...

This situation seems highly unusual captain.

If this happened I'd be absolutely shocked.

Get sheed's permission first? Ask Sheed how great of a teammate A.I. is?

And Who is Donny Marshall? Is he like a lost cousin?

I wouldn't take much of what Donny says to heart ... he loves to "stir the pot" and jump on rumors. Time will tell, but if this went down, I'd be as shocked as I was when KG was signed ... more, actually.

Am I the only one who's over anything with "rumor" attached to it?  ::)

Does anyone else also realize that someone would have to be cut? Granted, Giddens could be out that door real fast, but still...

AI at the LLE or min? Heck, why not? I would just rather wait until we are on a winning streak and have some stability before he signs.

LLE was given to Marquis Daniels.

What if this was AI's plan all the way?:

1. Accept to sign for the Grizzlies even if there was the possibility of playing off the bench (which was accelerated by his injury). He gets a $3 million check from Chris Wallace and later he finds excuses to leave the Memphis boat

2. Sign a deal for the min for the C's

3. Get a ring, playing off the bench and earning $4mill (instead of the $1.5 mil he would have got in the first place had he signed for us during the summer ;D :P)

Now seriously...do we need him?

Honestly?  I don't think there's any evidence to suggest AI is that smart.

Well played, PI.

The sad truth for me is that while I'm not interested in bringing AI to town, I would take him over Marbury any day - and having confronted the fear of rooting for Marbury in green, I'm already at the point where if AI wound up coming in, I'd be ready to throw my hands up and hope for the best with him, too - without being quite as stunned as I was when Steph as a Celtic became a reality.

I would prefer a SF/PF in the Posey mold, but I'm not going to outright say no to Iverson.

The first thing i would do is make sure Paul, KG, Ray, and Sheed are okay with it. If they are, then it could work. mostly because we have a backup two who can handle the basketball in Daniels.

That means AI can guard the PG position but play the SG position. The biggest problem with AI is that he can't play the PG position and he can't guard the SG position. I think with Daniels we would be able to soften that problem.
