AI at the LLE or min? Heck, why not? I would just rather wait until we are on a winning streak and have some stability before he signs.

LLE was given to Marquis Daniels.

What if this was AI's plan all the way?:

1. Accept to sign for the Grizzlies even if there was the possibility of playing off the bench (which was accelerated by his injury). He gets a $3 million check from Chris Wallace and later he finds excuses to leave the Memphis boat

2. Sign a deal for the min for the C's

3. Get a ring, playing off the bench and earning $4mill (instead of the $1.5 mil he would have got in the first place had he signed for us during the summer ;D :P)

Now seriously...do we need him?

Honestly?  I don't think there's any evidence to suggest AI is that smart.

I was kidding all the way...but it would be fun though :P

  • Rondo = Good

That means AI can guard the PG position but play the SG position. The biggest problem with AI is that he can't play the PG position and he can't guard the SG position. I think with Daniels we would be able to soften that problem.

So he's Eddie House, only instead of being mostly a shooter he's mostly a drive to the hoop guy.

At first thought, I said no way we need him. Marbury would even be better blah blah blah. But after thinking about the possibility for a minute, I think he could really help us. But I am still in doubt he would accept a backup role. Maybe he thinks he's better than Rondo and we'll start him?

AI still has some talent, that's for sure, but I don't feel the need for him. He is a undersized player who shots with 40 percent of success and he is known as a cancer so I'll pass.

If this happened I'd be absolutely shocked.
Ditto.
Donnie Marshall just used up the eensie bit of credibility he had (I granted him some for correctly calling it on Sheed).
Celtics fan for life.

I read that his buyout with Memphis voided almost the entire contract; AI won't walk away with much from it.

I know you can't tell much from what a GM says to the media but I think it is worth mentioning that AI came up w/Danny on the Big Show yesterday.  Ordway asked Danny what he thought of the Iverson situation and Danny's answer made me think that he wouldn't be an option in Boston.

Danny praised him as a player and a scorer but made it very clear that AI needs a lot of pt and touches and that Memphis should have known that and known that there is not a lot of either with Gay & Mayo.

This got me thinking that if he needs pt and touches that 15-18 minuets behind Rondo w/House and Quise in the fold would not be sufficient and Danny recognizes that.  He went on to insinuate that Marbury was a good fit b/c he knew what his minuets would be and could play within that role.

IMO I do not see how this would really help the C's.  Sure they'd have a pure PG to play beside Eddie and Quise, but really with the way a rotation is run you just need a ball handler and imo the point forward situation has worked.  Eddie is just cold as ice.

If this team was to add another piece I will be part of the echo chamber and say it would have to be a combo forward with a defensive mind set. And Noc and Posey may be available but those contracts are horrible and may help win now, but don't help any type of rebuilding while winning scheme.  FWIW a healthy Scal may be all we need to fill this small amount of playing time.

I have two thoughts:

1. I expect the AI show to move to Orlando, now that Jameer Nelson is hurt.  Iverson can probably win the starting job from Carlos Arroyo.

2.  I'd be interested in what Sheed, who lived through the turmoil in Detroit,  might think about AI coming to Boston-- not the public statements-- but what he really thinks.

3. Iverson is not a "pure pg."  In fact, he's not even an impure pg.  He's an sg in a pg's body, just like Eddie House.  And House shoots a much higher percentage.

Arroyo is in Miami, Brick.  The Magic's backups aren't exactly spectacular, though: Jason Williams, Anthony Johnson, and J.J. Redick.

The two teams I've heard are the Knicks and Heat.

George Karl said they'd be interested, but only if there was an injury to one of their other guards (he specifically mentioned Lawson).

Can you imagine the looks AI and Wade give each other when they realize the other guy wants the ball to shoot as much as they do?

Oops, my mistake.  Even so, Orlando seems like a logical place.

If there is truth to this rumor, I think we will see the Nocci trade go down too!
