Yeah, I guess so, Moiso ... just tired of the bashing at this point. Everything bad that can be said about him, has been ... to the max. Energy better spent on things constructive, IMHO. But I have no illusions ... it will go on, and what I think matters not.
By the same token, Bahku, those that are critical of Allen Iverson are not starting threads just to criticize the man. I can't think of one thread since he quit on Memphis that was started with the express rationale of criticizing one, Allen Iverson.

But what does occur fairly regularly are threads like these where posters declare their love to see their boyhood hero in Celtic Green because he is

"a great scorer"
"just what we need"
"better than half the players in this league"
"better than 80% of the guards in this league"
"better than anyone we have coming off the bench"
etc.
etc.
etc.

The misconceptions and just utter falsehoods that many who desire Iverson as a Celtic really get under the skin of those of us that see Iverson in a different light and so, we try to set the record straight. Could it be considered bashing? Maybe. Could it be called looking at things more realistically? Maybe. But the fact remains that if these bring AI to the Celtics threads weren't being consistently started and restarted, there would be NO Allen Iverson bashing.

Except of course for whatever owner in the CB Draft elects to select Iverson, in which case that dude is going to take a beating. ;) ;D

So goes the Internet, Nick.

You could apply those exaggerations - and several have here - to Delonte West, Gerald Green, Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, etc. I could go on and on and on.

The NBA markets individuals. These sorts of discussions - in AI's case about a has-been - are living, breathing proof.

Iverson is finished as a useful NBA player. Time to move on.

Im no Iverson fan,  but hes still got something in him. Do you think he would be a good fit to help backing up Rondo?

Between Nate, Delonte, and Bradley, I think we have the backup PG covered.  I wouldn't want somebody as volatile as AI in the locker room.

The fact that he is down to China or retirement answers this question.

There is a reason no team in the NBA is interested in Iverson. Heck, even Miami is all set.

Rofl @ the pic.

And yes, Iverson is done in the NBA at this point. It doesn't seem he like he can stay on a team for more than a month, and he's 35. The NBA has clearly moved on.

Well, if this is it for AI, then God Bless him and I wish him the best.

Go do your thing in China, Warrior! You carried Philly almost as far as Malone, Dr. J and Charles Barkley did - but mainly with you and Mutumbo only.

The only thing standing in his way to a title was the big 7'1" 300 pounder that we just signed.....

I didn't agree with everything the man did, but I have as much respect and admiration for the man as any Non-Celtic out there.

As far as AI in Green? We appear to be set, with Delonte being our final piece.

One part of me wants to believe that there is more love for Allen Iverson in another country than it is here in the U.S. of A. But then I remember last year when he was voted to the NBA All-Star team.

I think that was a fitting tribute for him. At the time there was some controversy about it because there were players that appeared to be more deserving, but the voting was the choice of the fans.

Wish you the best in China, AI!

China is perfect for him.  He is made to be the man, not play a role.  That much should be obvious at this point.

Yep, it's a perfect place to boost your ego. In euroleague it's too much work, but in China players like him and Marbury can average about 25-30 points - 10 assist, advertise their shoes and feel good about themselves.

Iverson is still better than 80% of the guards in the league.
Bobcats, Raptors, Cavs, Knicks .... these teams need a shooting guard, can not understand how a future hall of fame has no team yet.
It is a shame, AI can still play at a high level in the league, do not forget that he is still an all star.
Not China, not Europe, the place of Allen Iverson is the NBA.
Iverson is not Marbury, he is a future hall of fame.

He was better than 80% of the guards in the league 5 years ago.  Thats not even debatable now in 2010.

Nate is better at this stage of AI's career.
