I know most people are getting off on watching AI go down the tubes, but despite my feelings for him personally, I truly feel bad for the guy. It's a shame that one of the greatest basketball talents alive has met such a slow, painful decline. My prayers are with him, his daughter, and his family.

Oh I can't stand the guy. I'd even go as far as say I think he's a little overrated. But I don't want anything bad to happen to him personally. And I really do hope his child turns out ok.

In the petition, Tawanna Iverson asked for temporary and permanent custody of their five children as well as child support and alimony.

On Feb. 22, Allen Iverson and the 76ers announced that he was leaving the team for personal reasons.

Do we need an "Answer" in Boston to all our issues now?  ;)

I know we are loaded with undersized guards but in the 25 games he played for Philly he has shown the ability to score and blow by much younger guards. Clearly, he still has alot left in the tank. Thoughts?
Clearly he doesn't have much left in the tank.  Clearly he keeps making excuses and leaving teams because he's not playing well.  That's three teams in a row that he has bailed on.  If he were scoring 25ppg, he would play through any "personal reasons".

I want to return to the NBA this season, and help any team that wants me, in any capacity that they feel that I can help. I'm disappointed, and I owe my fans more than what they have seen of me the last couple seasons. However, now that my family is healthy and rock solid, I can concentrate fully on doing what I do best! At the camp, I will help teach kids some of what it takes to be successful in life. On and off.

I know Iverson has had his share of issues + drama, and would definitely be nothing short of a risk in trying to get him, but AI as 6th man would be pretty sweet.

Usually I'd say no off the bat (I said no last year), and given Avery Bradley's similar skillset, I'd tend to stick there.  Still, while I don't see AI as a full time player anymore, he could be the instant offense this team needs off the bench. Doc could feel comfortable resting 2-3 starters at a time knowing that AI can be offense by himself for 15 mpg.

Now would I want to see him jacking up shots at 35 mpg?  No.  But that type of offense is likely better than what most teams are sporting when their starters are going to the bench.

If we can get Ray back and sign Mike Miller, I probably don't roll the dice.  However, if we strike out and end up getting only Ray and some mediocre backups, I'd think about giving AI a trial run at the minimum.

This is the only reason I am giving AI some attention. As much as I want Mike Miller, I don't think we are going to get him, because someone will end up offering him more money than us.

And plus like you said AI coming off the bench would mean instant offense for us, which is always a plus considering that offensive droughts have been one of our main concerns.

Pretty good summary of how I feel. The Celtics, historically, have done pretty well with questionable veteran characters.

Sigh...it starts again.

For the past few years I have not been in favor of signing inversion and I believe I was correct in my reasoning.

But... IF IF IF inversion would be willing to come off the bench, not complain, and log about 20 minutes a game, then I guess I would be willing to roll my eyes, hold my nose, and watch what happens.

At least this would not cost the team a draft pick or a player.

For the minimum?  Sure.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Iverson w/ Rondo AND Nate is borderline 'small-ball', though all three of them are certainly capable of playing point guard.

I only bring this up because a few seasons ago when A.I. played with the Pistons I had to endure endless complaining from Pistons fans via their blog ( http://www.detroitbadboys.com).

That and watching Detroit's front-court get man-handled by opposing teams because for some reason Michael Curry thought it was a good idea to have Tayshaun Prince play power forward.   :o

yeah, totally depends on how FA plays out.

I actually like what Nate gave in a similar role. He is instant offense off the bench. I'd love Miller on the wing and TA as our defensive specialist.

If Nate is too expensive, then AI wouldn't be a bad alternative....especially if he is coming back with something to prove. We know DA has wanted him for a while....

I guess it just depends....more worried about our big man situation.
