Wow!

I knew they were trying hard to dump him, but I thought they'd hold out for more than that.

That is fine with me.  As long as he doesn't end up in Cleveland.

P.S. I think Nick's CB draft team is coming together in real life  ;D

A steal for the Cats.

GS, not so much.

I wonder what Danny Ferry is doing right now?

Ferry on the Phone to LJ

Ferry - "Hey Lebron, Uhm sry about messing up the Steven Jackson thing. I ah, didn't want to give up a retiring, slow, backup center for a guy that could help you get over the top. But ah, Hey, maybe I can buy u lunch? Will that make you feel better?"

James - Did I leave that NYC condo booklet in the locker room last night? Just leave it out for me. I'll be in after I talk to my agent.

Ferry - Hey Lebron, I ah... Lebron? You there?

I continue to have no clue what the Bobcats are doing. They just seem to be trading around mediocre players, only they like to take the mediocre players with the longer deals. Stack Jack is signed until about 2013.

Next year they will be paying:

Diop 6.5 million
Mohammed 7 million
Chandler 12.5 million
Diaw 9 million
Gerald Wallace 9.5 million
Jackson 8.5 million

Holy perpetual lottery batman.

Wow, this is great news for the C's, because it means that the Cavs won't get Jackson.

I also really like this deal for both teams.  Golden State get rid of a bad contract (and a guy turning into a cancer), and even get a decent player out of it in Radmanovic (Bell looks cooked to me).  And Charlotte gets a legit wing who can score, and will defend for a real NBA coach.

Of course this does not do much for the Bobcats cap, but they had already decided that they were not getting any caproom anyways, and the only way they were going to make any money on this team was to put a decent product on the floor.  They just took a step toward doing it.

It continually amazes me how incompetent GSW's front office is.

I see no reason why Charlotte doesn't flip Jax before the deadline in a couple months for an expiring deal.

I know exactly what they are doing.  They are trying to win games, in order to get fans in the seats.  They already tried the tactic of filling their team with college stars (as they are in a college basketball area), and that didn't work.  So now they have realized that the only way they will fill seats is if they win games.  That has been their new direction since Larry Brown came aboard.

So based on that, I think this was a great move, because they traded two mediocre to useless players for a very good player, who fills a major need at SG.

This team is now a legit playoff contender, who could even put up a fight for the 6th or 7th spot in the East.  That should at least get a few more butts in the seats.

Are Bell and Radmonovic expiring contracts?

Bell's is I believe expiring, Vlad has one more year after this year.  Which is why I doubt they'll reflip Jax for an expiring deal.

For this move, or for putting themselves into a position where they needed to make this move?  Because I completely agree that they have done a terrible job over the last few years, and painted themselves into a corner (much like NO), but I actually think this was a decent move.  They were not going to get much better value than what they got.  They just screwed themselves by resigning him.

Bell is an expiring (5 million) and Radmanovic has a player option for next year.

This trade makes sense for Charlotte. Financially, they are stuck with Jackson but hey, they didn't have a chance to acquire a big player this summer. Now they acquire a good scorer who will give a boost to their offense, which is their main problem. Their bench is really thin now but they've got a nice starting five. They will probably make the playoffs!

As for Golden State, Bell brings them his shot and his defense but they already have plenty of guards. However, Radmanovic will fit well in their system because of his size and his shot so it's a good deal for them since Jackson was destroying the chemistry and that they get rid of 5 million this summer.
