On paper, it might move Charlotte into the 8th spot, but the common sense meter is just not feeling this move. This guy's problem was how bad GS was...how many games are we going to give him before he goes off the deep end here too? Does he even report to Charlotte? And the only thing you get back for talented, but bad attitude guys with a 100 years left on their deal is salary dumps, which is what we saw here.

Do you think GS also did this to try and give a goodbye Eff You to Jax by sending him to a place he probably didn't want to go.

Well, I think he also had a huge problem with Nelson.  However, I think he will love playing for Larry Brown, as much as Larry Brown will love having him there.  I think this is going to be a perfect match.  Jackson gets to be the "man", but the team will still win some games.

Decent trade for both teams.

GSW gets rid of Jackson, and that's the biggest thing - it will help their chemistry.  It also potentially gives them some defense, which they sorely lack - assuming Raja Bell can come back and play at a decent level once he recovers from his injury.  Radmanovic is a big SF who can shoot well - Don will love him, I'm sure.

The Bobcats get somebody who can score 20 ppg - something they desperately, desperately needed.  I could see the Bobcats potentially making the playoffs if Jax actually works for them.

The only issue I see is the Bobcats aren't one of the teams Jax listed as a place he wanted to be traded to.  So the question is whether he will have a good attitude about going there.

I can see reasons why both teams made the trade, but I don't think it is a slam dunk for either team.

Charlotte gets better on paper, but loses financial flexibility, and potentially has a headcase on their hands.

GSW get better financial flexibility, clear out a headcase, but get worse on paper, and will always wonder if they could've gotten more for Jax.

I think Charlotte is a borderline playoff team, but not by much.  GSW is headed back to the lottery, where they were going anyway.

Just looking at the east and where Charlotte would fit on paper:

1-3: us, orlando, cleve
4-5: atlanta, miami
6-8: chicago, toronto, milwaukee

I still don't even see them fitting in the playoffs.

I think they could easily knock off Chicago, Toronto, and especially Milwaukee, who will have trouble keeping up their pace.

Yeah, Toronto is easily one of the worst defenses in the league at the moment, so it's hard to say how successful they'll actually be over the course of the season.  Chicago hasn't been particularly convincing either.  They've beaten some good teams, but also lost to some bad ones.  Milwaukee still has a very thin roster even with Jennings, Bogut, and a somewhat healthy Michael Redd.

The Bobcats are not a bad team, they just have really anemic offense.  Now that they have a wing who can score 20 ppg, they might be a more balanced team.  I could see them winning enough games to get to the playoffs.

It continually amazes me how incompetent GSW's front office is.

For this move, or for putting themselves into a position where they needed to make this move?  Because I completely agree that they have done a terrible job over the last few years, and painted themselves into a corner (much like NO), but I actually think this was a decent move.  They were not going to get much better value than what they got.  They just screwed themselves by resigning him.
Both -- I think the Warriors could have easily gotten an expiring contract for Jackson. I greatly dislike them taking on that additional year on Radmanovic's contract.

Very bad trade teams for both teams. Particularly for Charlotte who are digging themselves even further into the ground (long term).

Well I agree that Jackson to Cleveland would have been bad news for the Celtics.

But what is Jordan doing? The Bobcats are for sale, and he ought to be dumping salary, not adding it.

we don't have to play against S Jax on Wed. but then again, we might catch a team with some serious "the Cancer is gone, we can win now" mojo (like the Ewing Theory with a twist)

I'm not worried about it, as long as our defense is decent and we can hit shots we should be able to carve up the Warriors.

I am very worried about the Celtics so long as they continue to play bad basketball and go through the motions.  Right now they are vulnerable to every team in the NBA, including the Warriors without Jackson.  The way Rondo is playing right now, Monta Ellis is perfectly capable of eating him for lunch.
