Why bring AI in if you're not going to start him. He's the best player on that roster and you bench him. AI is a pain in the neck but he's the best player on Memphis and he only went there so he could start.  Chris Wallace is the anti-christ.

Chris Wallace is the anti-christ.

Ben Affleck married Jeniffer Garner and you married a bartender with a kid. These are facts.

To be clear, AI has only been granted an unspecified leave of absence for personal reasons.  He's still on the team.

This sounds a lot like the leave of absence for "personal reasons" he took last year while playing with Detroit.

AI is done in Memphis, an he's probably done is the NBA. This is a  Sad end to a pretty good career. This only question left to ask now is this: Is he still going to the Hall Of Fame?

Iverson is a great player, this is tragic.

Iverson is a great player who has lost a step and refuses to come to grips with it.  There are plenty of other All Star quality players in the league that have a lot more left in the tank than Iverson who have welcomed a reserve role to help obtain the ultimate goal.

It's pretty obvious that the Grizz wined and dined Iverson only to bring him in as a side show to come off the bench and sell tickets while the young guys learn the ropes and maybe pick up a few pointers.  Iversons own ego blinded him from seeing this coming.  Is it messed up of the Memphis management to do this?  Yes.  Do I feel sorry for Iverson? absolutely not after all the people hes thrown under the bus over the years.

Is This Tragic?  No

Is it Karma at it's finest?  Yes

Is it Funny?  From my perspective.....Hell Yes.

Iverson has been overrated for years.  I've been calling him a "6 foot ballhog shooting guard who shoots 41%" since these forums were flooded with people wanting us to trade for him.  Nothing about his move to Denver surprised me.  Nothing about his move to the Pistons surprised me.  And nothing in Memphis is surprising me.

BTW, anyone see him play this year? He still looked the same. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him if Pierce or Ray went down.

no offense, but Id rather see JR Giddens out there then bring that cancer on this team.

at least Marbury could pretend to be sane for half a season.

I don't really want him here but under the right circumstances he could add some punch to this team.

I was led to beleive that AI is just away taking care of some problem, i don't think he left the team.

I believe that the personal problem is " Being on this crappy Grizz team and having to come off the bench behind players who have been doing nothing in the NBA. This is a team of scrubs and role players and they're not even giving AI a chance.
He's gone.

Doc is a miracle worker...he got Marbury to stay sane last year in the context of the team...and then you saw how insane he was this past summer...AI actually has some talent left.

Another headcase à la Marbury...so much talent and so little brain... :(

And what kind of team was it before he decided to join it?

He was brought in to sell ticket while their backcourt of the future grows.  Why would they put AI in the starting lineup over Mayo or Conley when they want them to grow together?

AI is still all about AI.

Apparently, AI thinks he knows more than God.  :P

What I don't understand is that publicly, the team was saying that AI was being brought in to come off of the bench.  Did he think they were lying?  Did he assume that his great play would change their minds?
