Did everybody forget Baby says he now trains/practices MMA?

Something tells me this isnt the full story and he decided to be stupid with some MMA type crap.

This was my concern when this MMA news first broke. Would be surprised if the team did not raise concerns as well. Could be a Monta Ellis story hidden in here somewhere.

By the way, if Danny does decide to do something about it it would have to be through trade or through the DLeague, as the current list of NBA free agent big men is not good.

Complete List:
Lorenzen Wright
Stromile Swift
Donyell Marshall
Calvin Booth
Malik Rose
Robert Swift
Melvin Ely.

Not good at all.

Well we'd have to cut a player too, Davis going on IR doesnt open up a roster spot.  I think even if god forbid BBD was out for the year, Dannys going too see how things play out before he even starts to think of getting rid of either Giddens or Hudson.

He could also use the expirings to trade for one, though that would mean taking on unneccessary salary, and I really would prefer those assets to go toward a wing type.

I suppose the team could trade for a SF/PF like Nocioni or Posey.  I don't think it's necessary, though.

I'd trade BBD for being THIS stupid. Danny better bring in another body because Shelden and Rasheed won't last 6-8 weeks without an injury. Scal, TA, Giddens, Walker, and BBD all can be moved for something...

I grant you we don't know all the facts, but whats stupid about defending yourself when someone attacks you?

I'll be right with you if we find out he swung first, or they were just horsing around, but if a (i assume ex at this juncture) friend of his swung at him, and he hurt himself fending him off....i have a hard time finding fault with big baby.

Just bad luck

Again, above subject to change as we learn more.

If it was related to MMA, I'd be glad to see his contract voided if he will miss the season.

There is a bit of overreacting going on. You can't expect the guy to live in a glass case. But you do have to question his commitment if it turns out he puts himself in risky situations despite being under contract to fulfill a job that requires him to be physically sound.

There may be a lot of luck in staying healthy (like Perk's unlucky shoulder), but there is also a lot of choice (like Ellis).

You can't hurt your thumb punching through planks, just in case you wondered.

Not sure if this was posted, but via the actual celtics blog he'll require surgery:

Quote
Celtic president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said he "would not confirm or deny" circumstances surrounding the injury sustained by forward Glen "Big Baby" Davis, who will miss the first part of the regular season with a hand injury.

According to a league source, Davis has a broken thumb and will require surgery.

Actually, you can ... when making a proper fist, the thumb is what holds the fist together, (wrapping around the lower part of the fingers), and is highly exposed:

Absolutley agree with this stance Crownsy.

Man this sucks though. At least it gives Sheldon a chance at Semi-decent minutes. Who knows, maybe he turns out a better fit in the rotation than BBD?
