Which hand does he eat with?

I think he just buries his face in the plate. ;)

In all seriousness, he was getting into decent shape.  I'm sorry to see him sidelined, even if it appears from Wyc's words that he brought this upon himself.

When was the last time Wyc publically talked bad about one of our players? Was it Sebastian Telfair when he had a gun on a team plane for the second time in his career? We know how that turned out

I miss Leon Powe = /

Baby got engaged the night of the incident and was trying to get some alone time with his girl in a public setting. He asked his buddy to act as a bodygaurd for him. the guy basically blew it off so he and baby had a disagreement resulting in punches.

you heard it here first.

Agreed on the crazy enough to be true front.  BTW, does anyone know the financial implications of suspending BBD?  The NBA is usually pretty thorough about making sure there are no financial incentives to fine players, etc - is it the same with suspensions?  Will his unpaid salary have to go to charity, still count toward the luxury tax, etc?

Some things also could turn around and bite Celtics in the ass. Karma is a Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.. Leon Powe was a keeper and somehow we let him go. I must say but I believe Powe more than I believe what C's said about him. Powe and Ryan Gomes are one of the most intelligent faces in the NBA.

I will make this guarantee and say that HIM and Tony Allen won't lass come ALL-STAR date.

All due respect (and my apologies for the potential off-topic tangent here), but what's the value of this?

While guarantees by those in professional athletics have become a bit trite to some extent, they are at least the people playing the games and making the personnel decisions.

What I don't understand is what meaning comes behind fans making guarantees about processes over which they have no control.

If I'm nitpicking semantics and linguistics here, I apologize.  Certainly, I do as much predicting and theorizing and pontificating as anyone (and I don't think there's any guilt in that), so perhaps this is merely synonymous to that.  But there's something about that "guarantee" phrase used among non-participants (fans, media, anyone) that picks at me for some reason.

Yep, it's the same deal:  the money will go to charity.

Now, can Big Baby write that off on his taxes as a charitable donation?  Or can the team?  Any accountants here?

Not an accountant, so I am sure someone else could answer this better than I can, but I imagine the NBA could use it as a tax deduction.  BBD wouldn't be paying the charity directly, so he couldn't write it off, but the team/NBA could probably do so, since they are the ones directly paying the charity.  Pretty clever on their part, in that they do a good thing and send fine money to charitable organizations, but make sure it flows through them for tax purposes.  I might be wrong about this, though...

Yeah, having Mama Doc call you out is nothing like getting Daddy Wyc going.

im not a fan of that obese fool.  Something about his personality rubs me the wrong way.  He reminds me of a poor man's Antoine Walker.  He seems like the kind of kid who had he joined a team of youngsters would have turned out a lot like Walker.  I can't really blame the Celtics for signing him.  They apparently couldn't find anyone willing to trade for him and I can imagine they didn't want him to walk with nothing in return... I figure they were planning on trading him sometime this season, but now the gamble didn't pay off.

Given Wyc's reaction, I can't help but feel we may have seen the last of Big Baby in a Boston Celtics uniform. The front office was clearly not happy with his conditioning the last two years as they made $1 million of his contract conditional upon meeting certain weight criteria. Now, hours after the story of Davis hurting himself and before any of the details of the injury's origins come out the owner of the Celtics is already talking suspension.

To me this bodes very bad for one Glen Davis. His antics that we probably haven't heard much about are now going to start to come to light and before we know it, he will be being packaged along with others for replacements and possible upgrades.

Also, is it just me or does anyone else think that Sheldon Williams is going to be a huge surprise. Sheldon having to come in and play versus second stringers with the quality of players like Rasheed, Eddie and Marquis playing alongside him are going to make his game so much more effective than when he was being forced to play against starting competition in Atlanta or with horrid reserve players in Minny and Sacramento. Okay, say I'm looking through life with green tinted glasses but I think by the end of the year, Sheldon Williams being picked up is going to look like a brilliant signing by Danny Ainge.

I certainly wouldn't say Williams was a "Bad" addition, better than O'Bryant, at least. I just don't see him getting a lot of minutes. When he does, though I think he'll give us that occasional mid range shot and some rebounds, which is all we really need from him. Solid enough pick up for me.

Who will be playing sooner, GD or Powe? ???. I know it's pretty opportunistic for my part but, at this point and after the facts, it would have been better and cheaper to keep Leon. I don't know if GD will be suspended or not but i hope (if it happens) he will learn his lesson and care less about "business" and "PT" and more about the team and being a real pro.

I think it's automatically "written off" since it's income he won't be receiving.  So if he loses $250k (to make up a number) due to suspension, his taxable income also drops by $250k.

Actually, funny you bring that up. Sort of an interesting storyline going on there. If Davis' injury is as bad as it seems they could hypothetically come back at roughly the same time, around the all-star break. Is there offical word on Glen, yet? I've heard everything from several weeks to up to six months.

I guess if it's 6th months, we should have just kept Powe and made him an offer early on. Both of these guys have some issues to face in the recovery process, imo. With Powe, it's his knees. They've been a chronic problem since his high school days. The question with him is if he can come back and play at the level he did before his recent injury.

Then with Davis, is he going to be able to keep his conditioning up? We all know Glen likes his food. This is almost as bad as the problem Leon faces, imo. If Glen can't run or jump because he's packing on Mike Sweetney weight, what use is he? That's completely possible that he gets lazy in the recovery process and hits McDonalds 5 times a day.

Judging by personalities, I think Leon is more likely to come back strong, despite his actual injury being amazingly more significant. Glen just doesn't have a strong mentality like Powe does. It's a shame, really. Always was in favor of Powe over Davis, but I guess hindsight is 20/20.
