House is NOT a point guard.  >:(

But he will play there as he did the beginning of both the 07 and 08 season.

I refuse
Don't worry Edgar. He will be playing alongside Daniels all the time and although he will be the listed PG, it will be Daniels and Pierce that will playing the point position.

well then i will be even more worried
I dont trust Daniels and definetly
not Paul  getting the ball from side to side of the court with faster people guarding him

After all thats the reason of the Cassels and Marburies of this world
why dont we get our 09  version early this year
and get him to trainning camp..

why  why  wyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy  :'(

I say trade for one. Maybe Tony and Scal for Rafer Alston. They already have Harris starting and Dooling on the roster. or Tony and Walker of Steve Blake as they now have Miller starting and Beyless signed long term

I think Ainge will still try and move tony.  No takers:
Hudson d league without a doubt
I think sheldon will stay and scal has a leg up  ::) on the younger guys
If Walker shows anything he stays because he can give minutes at sf.  Giddens to me has to really show something or he's part of a trade for a vet pg.
ps- i think alston is a jerk (but far better than TA)

has been for the last two years ed, at least for the majority of the season till they brought in two failed projects.

Giddeons, hudson, and shelton sit.

The problem of course, is that even when Cassell and Marbury were here, they still couldn't always convince Doc to play them over House at the 1.  Sometimes he did play them together, but at other times House was the guy out there.

I think the big difference this year is Rondo.  In 2008 the fear was that Rondo would crumble in the playoffs and that we'd need a vet to step in.  Rondo has clearly proven to be an elite PG who should play close to 40 mpg in the playoffs.  Thus, the need for a backup PG is far less dramatic than it used to be.

Plus, for all the flaws Eddie has--and I believe he has a lot--I think he can make up for it if we play him those 8-10 mpg with Pierce, Allen, KG, and Wallace.  The damage that unit will be able to inflict in the halfcourt will makeup for whatever he doesn't do with playmaking.  It will be impossible to double anyone and our Big Three should be able to destroy people off the dribble or make teams pay with open threes.

As for the 12 man, I think it depends on two things, the play of Tony Allen and the ability for Baby to play the 3.

If Doc loses confidence in TA, it could mean that both Giddens and Walker make the active roster OR that Scal makes it over Williams because Scal can play the wing.

Same with Baby, he's hinted this offseason that he has been working on his jumper.  If he proves he can play the 3, it may mean that Doc feels the 3 doesn't need as much depth, which also may open opportunities for Shelden and potentially knock a Giddens or Walker to the IR.

If I had to guess now:

The Starters
Wallace
Daniels
House
Baby
TA
Scal
Williams

Walker
Giddens
Hudson

I know people would like to put Walker ahead of Scal, but let's not forget that Scal played big minutes in the playoffs.  Walker didn't.  I don't see Doc letting Walker beat him out unless he really makes a case for it.

Interesting question who would you prefer to get minutes?

Scal, TA or Walker

With Daniels I think you have the ability to play Eddie for fire power or TA (with Daniels at PG we hope) and Scal at SF. This would give up a good sized unit that would be pretty solid defensively. But I see Eddie, Daniels, Scal, Sheed and BBD as a very experienced and pretty balanced 2nd team.

Were do you see Walker getting minutes (in what kind of lineup)?

Would love to see us unleach the Daniles (PG) TA (SG), Walker (SF) line up. Three hell bent slashers - absolute mayhem!

I think they will be showcasing TA and Scal early to try and get some trade talks going. I don't see where Giddens and Walker get much PT. There is really no reason to play them unless you see them getting minutes in the playoffs.

I would not be surprised if Hudson gets signed and think he can challenge House and Daniels for PG minutes. If nothing else he may be kept in Boston for practice minutes against Rondo.

Another question, is TA really still that good a defender or has he lost most of his lateral quickness?

I think the Celtics are in it to win, I don't think they'll bother to showcase Tony/Scal. Homecourt is going to be too important, Tony and Scal are relatively known quantities in the NBA. Their value is that they're expiring nothing more.

KG.  But I think the point is moot.  I think we'll rarely see either at the 3 (however Danny did hint at a "big frontline" today in the press conference).  However, when we do, I think we'll see them on the court together with Perk or Wallace.  So what they call either is really insignificant.  However, if I had to label one the "3," it'd probably be KG.  But it really depends on the matchup.  If we were playing the T-Wolves, Baby would likely guard Gomes.

So if there is no showcasing and every game is critical who do you see getting minutes besides Daniels and House from 1-3?

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
Rondo/House
Allen/Daniels/Giddens
Pierce/Walker
Garnett/Davis/Williams
Perkins/Wallace

Inactive TA, Scal, Hudson

That's how I wish the lineup would end up, but I find that very unlikely.
