Scal, Tony, and Giddens works. Would you do it?

Here is the link and contents of the article.

http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/61345/20090828/jackson_wants_out_of_golden_state/

Appearing in New York with Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson said he does not want to return to the Warriors this season.

"I don't think I'll be a Warrior next year. I'm looking to leave," Jackson said.

Jackson said the Warriors have been made aware of his desire to be traded.

"I really can't get too much into it right now, but I'm just looking to go somewhere where I can go and win a championship," Jackson said.

Jackson listed the Cavs, any of the teams in Texas and the Knicks as his preferred destinations.

Man I would love to get him here... But at the right price!  I guess we're not one of his prefered choices though... unfortunately.

Jacko is one of the most conflicted NBA dudes.    Coaches/teammates LOVE him.   He competes like a muther.   But also still has alot of knucklehead deep down in him, no need to rehash the examples.

BUT, as a Celtics fan, I'd be all for it.

Wow. A lot of years left on his contract: including this coming season, he's owed $35 million over the next four years.

Jax is a unique package of skills and baggage. Don't know if Wyc and the rest of the brass are willing to go for that.

There is zero chance of getting Stephen Jackson without giving up Ray Allen, IMHO. Not only that but we would probably also have to take on Speedy Claxton's contract even though no one knows if he'll ever play this year given he's played in a whopping 44 games over the last 3 years and 2 games in the last 2 years.

Also, it would mean probably having to have either Pierce or Jackson play SG, which I'ld be okay with because our size advantage and mismatches would far exceed any defense we would give up in having PP or Jacko at the 2 rather than Ray.

Something like

Boston sends Allen and Walker
GSW sends Jackson, Claxton and Wright.

I don't hate that trade as Claxton's expiring contract gives us money to extend Rondo and I really believe Brandon Wright will become a hell of a player. But I don't love it either as I don't like taking Ray's game out of the starting five.

Probably doesn't matter as it sounds like Jackson has a man crush on LeBron.

I'd love to get Jackson, but I wouldn't give up Ray Ray for him. I'd throw Scal and Tony's expiring contracts at them and throw in either Giddens or Walker, whichever they prefer.

I started the thread because I thought since Jackson came out and said he doesn't want to play there anymore, we might be able to get him for a weak package that would save GS some money, and GS could trade him to one of the teams he didn't mention (I also would hate to see Cleveland get him).

If we did get him I think I'd bring him off the bench for this year and then start him next year, if we are able to resign Ray Ray.

Anything is possible. But this one is unlikely. We already made a commitment to Marquis who plays similar role, and our deflated infant is back.

I agree that it is unlikely but the Spurs pulled off a similiar deal to get Jefferson and the Lakers did the same thing a couple years ago to get Pau . . . So crazy things can happen and I think it's worth a phone call.

Besides, it would give us legit back ups for Ray and Pierce. If this happened I wouldn't mind Doc using a ten man rotation!

House
Daniels
Jackson
Baby
Sheed

That unit would make the playoffs if they were a different team!

I mentioned this a month or two ago but thought it was a long shot.  But because of his contract other teams might hesitate to take him.  But he would be a great fit here.  You might have to give up Eddie too but that might be Ok since he would need minutes anyway.  He would be a solid replacement for Ray too.  I'd imagine a better offer would be on the table than Eddie, Tony and Scal.  But you never know.  GS could still start Curry, Ellis, Maggette, Randolph and Biedrins and get out of Jackson's contract.

I know he prefers going to Cleveland or a Texas team but I can't imagine he would be too upset about coming here.

Lets not panic. Cavs can stockpile every available player, but nothing is guaranteed. Our core is still the best, and we brought in Sheed & Marquis for a nice bench.

As great as he is, we don't have the minutes for Captain Jack. He won't be taking Pierce's or Ray's minutes. And whatever is left will be eaten up by marquis.

A better option to compliment what we have, would be Andres Nocioni. A gritty player who never shy's away from competition. Nocioni is the better defender, rebounder, and shooter. And he'll cost less.

House/Lester
Daniels/JR
Nocioni/Walker
BBD/Sheldon
Sheed/?

The love for Nocioni on this board is kinda puzzling.  The guy is a mediocre defender.  Two slow to guard a SF and not tall enough to guard PF's.  Suggesting he is even remotely close to Jackson as a defender is flat out comical. Jackson is a great defender. The only real concern about Jackson's game is his reliance on slashing and his rebound rates, but Nocioni can't hold his jock.  Personally, I see Nocioni as one of the most selfish players in the league.  He is a blackhole when it comes to offense.  It goes in his hand and he is going to hoist up a shot.  This guy has never worked in the construct of a team offense, so I believe at his salary ... he'd be a bad acquisition for this team.

With regards to Jackson, he could be a valuable acquisition for a team looking for a 2 guard.

To Cleveland: Stephen Jackson and Ronnie Turiaf
To Golden State: Anderson Varajeo and Delonte West

Cleveland gets an athletic swingman and a big man who probably is a better fit with Shaq.

Golden State gets an interesting backup/complement to Bierdens and a backup PG/SG who could do some interesting things as swing man.

Do you think Golden state would rather take back long contracts of medicore players or take expiring contracts of medicore players. I'd go with the later. It's not like they are going to compete and with the economy doing so poorly why not save some money to get rid off an unhappy player?

As much as I love Ray(NOT TRADING HIM EVER) But a trade of Scal, Tony, Giddens/Walker and Cash for Stephen Jackson would be amazing. With that, I would consider Jackson starting POSSIBLY, this year or next. That was we'd have our prime scorer off the bench with Ray...Scal could even possibly be bought out and resigned for a more friendly contract. Could you imagine a roster like this...MY DREAM TEAM

Rondo, Eddie             Sign Lester Hudson
Ray, Jackson
Pierce, MDaniels    Giddens/Walker
KG, BBD                  Resign Scal if bought out.
Perk, Sheed, Sheldon

Also, last year Capt Jack played majority PG so we'd have yet another off ball handler
Can't stop, Rondo!

I agree that this would be an amazing team! I don't think I'd start Jackson over Ray because the first unit is soooo good together and Ray really helps spread the floor. Plus, as you said Jackson could play the point on the second unit, the guy did have 6.5 asstists per game last year.

I was probably thinking more as Ray slows down next year. Or keep Ray starting, but let Jack get majority of minutes at SG(kinda like what the Spurs did with Ginobli and Finley)
