i would likely put rondo 5th overall:

1. cp3
2. tony parker
3. billups
4. dwill
5. rondo

i think arenas has to be mentioned in there as well, but i think he is more of a combo guard as opposed to true pg.

A ton of people keep mentioning Gilbert. I wish I could consider him as being a NBA player still. But with his past two years of injuries, and overall lackluster play when he was back, I can't put him in any discussion.

You have to be able to get on the court!

Not going to try and be a bias Celtics fan, but Rondo is better than that for sure. And Rose is NOT in the top ten discussion yet. As for Nash, he's on a fast decline and wouldn't put him ahead of Rondo anymore.

biased, not bias (bias is a noun, biased is an adjective, Bias is a guy who set out franchise back 20 years)

That is my biggest grammatical pet peeve ever.

My biggest spelling pet peeve is when someone says "I hope the cavs loose", I see so many of the eras on this blog. Then the person says "sorry it was a typo". No, that is not a typo.
For someone who has a problem with "loose" for lose I find it hilarious that you wrote "eras" instead of errors. I'll just go with the fact that you did that on purpose for comedic value! Yeah, that work's for me because I know someone with a spelling peeve would never misspell the word errors. ::) ;D

1. Deron Williams
2. Chris Paul
3. Tony Parker
4. Chauncey Billups
5. Gilbert Arenas
6. Steve Nash
7. Rajon Rondo
8. Jason Kidd
9. Devin Harris
10. Baron Davis

Jameer Nelson fell a little bit low for an all-star.
I have to say Chris Paul #2  :o
Why do you think Deron Williams is the best?  Mind you I can see an argument for him at #2-4 easily.  So just asking.
It's really just my personal preference.  I like Deron's size, a thing many PGs are lacking in the league.  He's not as fast as Paul, but he's right there.  He's a better shooter, and I think he's more clutch.  He seems stronger going left than Paul does.  A lot of Paul's steals come from risky defense, whereas Deron's defense is more fundamental.  Also, Paul relies a lot on pure speed.  If he was ever to catch an injury that affects his speed, he will in trouble.  Whereas Deron is a little more versatile, and could even make a switch to SG.
Chris Paul is clearly more popular, and has the better stats, but I don't think that says much (mostly that he has an arguably better team).  I think Deron is just straight-out more talented, and he will end up having a better career.  That's not to say Paul isn't directly on his heels, and I think Parker and Billups are right on Paul's heels too.
interesting , good points

Getting away from the whole spelling gestapo subject(sorry, didn't mean to bring that up in the first place but found one post in that off-topic part of this thread ironically funny), I have a real problem with the attached article putting Rose ahead of Rondo.

Rondo outplayed Rose in that playoff series. He showed the world that Rose needs some serious work on his defense and that he is still very inconsistent. He definitely has the stuff to be a star but he's not there yet. I don't get the author of that article referencing Rose's playoff play for his justification of putting him 6th and then referencing Rondo's playoff averages and then putting him 8th.

I have no problem with the top 5 and think Rondo proved that he should probably be 6th, ahead of Nash. Nash's defense is atrocious and for all the offense he creates he gives up just as much. Why "experts" never seem to take that factor into the equation when evaluating his game is beyond me. It is one of the reasons why I have no problem with the top 5 because I think they are all good defenders.

Can someone also please explain to me what the idiot who wrote that article is doing with Jameer Nelson at 19 and Mo Williams at 17 and Jose Calderon at 11? Is it just me or does each one of these guys all deserve to be in the Top 10, or in Williams case, almost Top10?

My Top 11 would be

1.) Paul
2.) Parker
3.) D. Williams
4.) Billups
5.) Harris
6.) Rondo
7.) Nelson
8.) Calderon
9.) Rose
10.) Nash
11.) M. Williams

I see some arguments for others and will state the reasons I left them out.

Kidd - he can't score anymore unless it is with his three point shooting. He seems to have lost either the will, desire or ability to successfully get to the basket. He is definitely at least 1-2 steps slower than his prime and he is a shadow od his former defensive self.

Davis - I have trouble putting a guy in the top 11 that has missed 32, 15, 36, 28, 19, 0, and 17 games in the last 7 years respectively. I also have trouble putting a guy in the top 11 who's game yo-yo's up and down based on how good his team is. His per 40 stats jump all over the place and depend a lot on how interested he is based on the quality of the team. Check out his close friend Paul Pierce's stats. Pierce's per 40 stats have always been very consistent no matter how good his team.

Arenas - the dude hasn't played in two years. When he can get back on the floor and show he is a top 10 talent, I'll list him there, until then, he doesn't deserve to be there.

Not a typo, but an incorrect spell check selection.

I have a pet peeve at work. Our 3 out of 4 of our computer techs can't spell. They can take apart a computer and put it back together blindfolded, can recite the past 50 models of HP printers in the last 2 years, but can't spell.
We have a thumb drive with a note flag on it "DO NOT LOOSE"
In response to that, I added a post-it "DO NOT TITAN"
Also in the tech notes "PERFORM" is typed OR WRITTEN in as "PERFROM" My least fav person on Earth, another tech, spelled necessary with "i's" something like "nessicariy"
Can't stop, Rondo!

I'm just not ready to stop liking Kidd.  I agree he's slowed down, and not nearly as good as he once was, but he's still top 10 material.
Philly:

Anderson Varejao    Tiago Splitter    Matt Bonner
David West    Kenyon Martin    Brad Miller
Andre Iguodala    Josh Childress    Marquis Daniels
Dwyane Wade    Leandro Barbosa
Kirk Hinrich    Toney Douglas   + the legendary Kevin McHale

Rose Nash Calderon but I agree otherwise.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism

He's definitely been a very frustrating player to have on a fantasy team lately. I agree that guys like Baron and him really need to come back and have a great, non-injury plagued year to get back into the 'elite' discussion- which probably won't happen. I am sure they were just getting respect because of past performance...like, Nash may be rated a tad too high, but he has been so good for so long that he's not just going to drop down the list because of a few one hit wonders (who very well could be the next elite class of the nba)...
