I started a thread about the Europe misinformation a while back. There is little reason to think that Hudson would allow us to retain his rights be going to Europe.
I have posted this quite a few times, but I never saw any responses:
http://www.nbpa.org/cba_articles/article-X.php#section4The likely move for Hudson is wait for an offer from the Celtics, and when there is one, take it. If the Celtics tender an offer on time and Hudson is persuaded to not accept it but to instead go to Europe, then I believe we would retain his rights. I just don't see why he wouldn't just accept the tender instead of going to Europe.
Players aren't going to do us favors. There needs to be guarantees for the player, but Hudson may not be worthy of a guarantee at this point. I don't see how there is any chance of us 'sending' him to Europe and retaining his rights.
If he wants to go to Europe, why not wait out the Celtics before going so that he can be a FA in the NBA if he tries again to make the league?
Seems to me he will either get a contract or become a FA. A partially guaranteed contract would make the most sense if we sign him.
