What would happen to Lester Hudson...

I started a thread about the Europe misinformation a while back. There is little reason to think that Hudson would allow us to retain his rights be going to Europe.

I have posted this quite a few times, but I never saw any responses:

The likely move for Hudson is wait for an offer from the Celtics, and when there is one, take it. If the Celtics tender an offer on time and Hudson is persuaded to not accept it but to instead go to Europe, then I believe we would retain his rights. I just don't see why he wouldn't just accept the tender instead of going to Europe.

Players aren't going to do us favors. There needs to be guarantees for the player, but Hudson may not be worthy of a guarantee at this point. I don't see how there is any chance of us 'sending' him to Europe and retaining his rights.

If he wants to go to Europe, why not wait out the Celtics before going so that he can be a FA in the NBA if he tries again to make the league?

Seems to me he will either get a contract or become a FA. A partially guaranteed contract would make the most sense if we sign him.

There is a lot of merit to what you say GW. I think the real problem now is that Lester Hudson really hurt his negotiating powers with the Summer league injury. He is much less of a commodity as a scoring PG/combo guard anyway IMO as they are pretty plentiful. Now every team, including European, will say "Let's wait and see how he heals up" before making a move toward offering a contract.

He might still have a chance with the team if he can make it to training camp healthy. The point guards left in free agency are nothing but 3rd string bench fodder (the ones in our price range that is). Hudon's ability to handle the ball, and shoot paired with his scoring/attack mentality might find him a place on our roster. I think he could succeed where Pruitt failed.

Yeah, I think he absolutely has a chance to make the team.  I really don't think they are going to go hard after any more FA PG's, so he will likely have a chance to earn a spot in training camp.
