RE: Outlaw

You mean those 6 (SIX! SIX GAMES!) games where Artest or Battier was up his shirt like a teenager on prom night? I'll take the body of work. He's ready for Rashard "I play when I want to" Lewis.

Honestly, though, I think backup C is the least of your worries, against not only Portland but any number of teams in the West.  Your offense is fundamentally flawed, with two lane-clogging bigs and Rajon Rondo.

My offense is fundamentally awesome. If rajon Rondo can take a team to the finals, then he can make an offense work where he has a plethora of outside shooters on the bench, and Josh Howard, Travis Outlaw (both capable outside shooters) and Al Jefferson to work with.

Keep toeing that "Rajon can't hit a J" line..see how well it works for teams doing it next year to our mercurial boy.

Thanks for reminding folks that Outlaw has six games, total, of playoff experience in his career.

But hey, he's made the most of those games.  He averaged 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 0.5 assists on 31.8% shooting.  Solid.

Darko is a guy who was never as good as his hype, and who wilted under the pressure.  He has needed to be coddled constantly.  He's mentally weak, has poor fundamentals, and is a poor shooter.

Memphis put in a "European system", under which Darko was supposed to thrive.  He couldn't.  Any team that relies upon him is doomed to failure.

Memphis is the place where good big men go to die or get traded. Darko got traded. You might be right, I may be crazy. But it might just be a lunatic who wins the wesssstttttt

... if rajon Rondo can take a team to the finals. . .

When did this happen?  Rondo might have started on a playoff team, but he didn't "take" that team anywhere.

If you think Rondo wasn't a very important part of our championship run as a second year player you weren't watching the same playoffs I was.

And last year? he got better.

Now if the trend continues, and it is a trend, I did the T-test, Rondo should average 15 points, 9 assists, and 3 steals per game this season.

EDIT: I didn't do the T-test.

You of all people know that the Portland team is a monster in the making. It just took 4 years of making. He's 25, give the guy a pass for not being in the playoffs and eventually 'getting it'

... and I quote:

Quote from: Doc Rivers
. . . guys still fell off [Rondo] to double team. Guys don't fall off an All-Star to help with someone else. He has to make them pay for that by hitting his shot. . . .

"[Y]ou have to do it every day in the playoffs. [For much of] the playoffs you could make the case that he really struggled. He had good rebounding numbers. He also had some good assist numbers at times. But at the point guard level you have to be able to score and get your assists. When teams play the Boston Celtics the one guy they are going to help off of is Rondo."

Luckily for the Western Conference, when you play the Phoenix Suns, the two players you help off of are Rondo and J.P.  Teams will just clog the lane, and dare you to beat them.  It's not going to happen.

As for Rondo's playoff performance in the Celts' Finals run, he was the 4th or 5th best player, and was pretty poor against the Lakers.  Let's not pretend that he was a primary reason we advanced in the playoffs.  He wasn't.  That was all on the big three.

I like your starters.  I feel as though you may be better off moving one of your bench guys into the starting lineup, and bringing perhaps Deng or Maggette off the bench as a super-sub.

As mentioned before, right now defense off the bench is an issue.  Teams are going to go directly at your bench guys, because none of them outside of Udoka can play even mediocre defense.

Of course, as you alluded to, you have a very, very good offensive team.  Basically, an improved version of the real life Utah Jazz, which is a pretty good team.

So Pryzbilla sets the bone jarring pick on Mike Bibby. Shaq/JO rotates for Rondo, either then AJ is in a 1 on 1 with the other guy, or Rondo looks to kick it out to Howard or whoever, or he takes it to the hoop and draws the foul, or he dribbles out and we do it all again.

All your guys may clog the paint, but don't think you can keep the Ragin Rondo out of it. We all know that's not true. He'll eat Bibby for breakfast and not save leftovers.

Also, IP, am I reading it correctly that you only have *one* big man on you bench taller than 6'6"?

You understand our strategy is just going to be to feed the post on literally every possession, right?  Your big men will be fouled out in 8 minutes.
