2009 Celticsblog Draft: Voting Analysis : Team of the Future

I think my team would have won the NBA title in this year's real NBA. I honestly do. i just keep staring at its well balanced and well rounded perfection.

Too young, my friend, too young.  Plus, in the real NBA, Big Al's ACL snapped like a twig.

I'd like to submit that big al's MCL snapped like the bow of a great redwood with abnormal healing powers.

That's cool.  In the "fake" NBA, Portland's roster has been fitted with adamantium skeletons.  (We're staying silent about whether it's with or without claws, but I'd suggest people not make us mad).

Disclaimer:  such skeletons are subject to removal should we ever decide to trade any of our players.

So how do people feel about the Bruce Bowen move. Are you buying my "he will be my team's defensive sensai" idea? I think a little experience and leadership goes a long way.

He seems kinda out of place on your team, but he can't hurt.

I thought about that..but then I also thought "who defends the Paul Pierces or Kobe's if Travis Outlaw isn't in there?"...Bruce Bowen will make him better, and he will make my 2nd and 3rd units less of a liability.

I don't think you give Josh Howard's defense enough credit.

Howard is one of the league's best two-way forwards, able to defend capably, but skilled enough to average a point every two minutes. He's 6-foot-7 and quick enough to defend all three perimeter positions. However, for some reason he stopped drawing charges last season, falling from 35 a year earlier to just nine last year. The Mavs still gave up 3.2 points fewer per 48 minutes with him on the court, but between the drop off in offensive fouls drawn and the diminished blocks and steals, one gets the impression his effort level waned considerably last year.

I mean...Howard can be a Wackadoo sometimes, but I feel like what I need out of him is 18 points a night, average to good defense, and not to do anything stupid. If he does that I like our chances.

I think that's right.

San Antonio was a possibility for awhile, but they went in a different direction.

Interestingly, I'd but Orlando as another very, very strong contender for this title, but I believe the rule this season is that a team can only contend for either "win now" *or* "team of the future" in the voting.  I could be wrong on that, though.

Miami has some good pieces.  Phoenix is very, very strong with a Big Al / Rondo combo.  Depending upon how you define "the future", Washington is in the discussion.
