BBD makes sense for them, as they lack a power forward.  I would not be surprised if they offer him the full MLE, in hopes the Celtics don't match.

That is where it would get interesting. Neither Orlando nor Utah blinked in matching MLE offers to their FA. I think Wyc has to do the same. Yes, it is overpaying for BBD, but I think we need him to be able to confidently compete for 18, unless we are able to sign Gooden for the LLE, which is extremely doubtful. Don't know why NJ would have any incentive to do a sign and trade for BBD.

Because they want to sign him and clear some salary as well to offset his?

I don't think we need BBD to win banner 18. We need a fourth big man, but I think a couple FAs out there could fill that void. I'd prefer BBD as he knows the system and can defend both the 4/5. But his lack of rebounding ability means he's not worth a big deal.

Who is left out there that we could sign?  Realistically.
Ike Diogu, Drew Gooden, Rasho Nesterovic, and Joe Smith are all mentioned in by Ball Don't Lie in their FA list. I think the last 3 would all be fine fourth bigs.

Personally, I like the depth at PF at the minimum or LLE vs. the depth at PG.

I'd be very open to a Dooling for Davis deal with other considerations in place to make it work from a cap perspective.

Didn't Oberto sign with the Wiz?  I thought I heard something about that.

you guys forget, Ainge always gets his man (see Robert Swift)

Big Baby to NJ for Yi

don't know how that works out numbers wise, but toss in some pieces on both sides and I'm sure it can be done

don't stone me, I'm just tossing it out there as a possibility - not a rumor (it isn't even my original idea - read someone else say it and thought it was funny)

He has an offer I believe, but not an agreement.

If NJ signs him, I would want Yi and Courtney Lee for BBD in a S & T. That would give us two young pieces as potential replacemenst for Ray and KG or Sheed.

Probably very unrealistic, but why not. Otherwise, match the offer. We need BBD to play D against Shaq and Howard in the playoffs. Also Duncan and Laker Bigs.

Not likely.  There was a report out not to long ago about the Nets loving the marketability and sales from over seas.  They were not going to move him.

Smith, Diogu or Shelden Williams would make sense at the minimum OR the LLE if we were pursuing Dooling.

I believe Dooling just makes a ton of sense.  Big PG who can defend SG's on defense.  Lots of versatility on the floor at once.

How does the $3.76MM trade exception they received for Vince Carter impact this deal?

I think BBD rebounding will increase with conditioning.
While I am not happy with his board numbers, I do see him boxing people out for other players a lot.
Also RW has terrible rebound per minute played his whole career, and he made like 12 million last year.
I still think if we can get him for less than 4 million a year for 2 or 3 years, we should do it.
With a weight clause.

I don't know, they've been consistent for two years on the defensive glass. I think his reach and limited leaping ability will always make him a below average rebounder.

And I believe his size and shot make him a viable starter eventually in the league.

I'd prefer to trade him because I believe we can get a good PG and replace his production for the limited time he is going to be on the floor.

Baby might not be a great rebounder, but he somehow grabs some good rebounds when we need them, specifically in the 4th quarter. He seems to be rebound clutch.

Every rebound matters though. Besides I'm always skeptical of "clutch" claims when coming from a team's fans.
