I don't understand why people think we still need another SF. Who is going to give Quise problems besides Lebron? Lebron gives everyone problems obviously. It's just a bonus that he might be able to play spot minutes at the 1.

If we find a marginal SF to use, he better eat the bench behind Giddens (unless Giddens ends up utterly sucking). If we get a good SF, I'm for it. But we should have another wing just for depth purposes.

I don't see it as a "need" as some here see it. The wing rotation is quite fine with Daniels and House. Giddens too if given the opportunity.

Yes. I am a fan of Giddens. He has grown on me more than Walker for some reason. Long, athletic, and shot is better than I once thought it was. One thing is for sure: never a lack of energy with this kid. I like to have guys like that off of the bench. A few hustle plays here and there can ignite the whole team/building. Gotta hope he can start the season outside of Doc's doghouse this year.

Maybe Danny envisions a second unit perimeter trio of House, T Allen and Daniels. They switch off on bringing the ball up, with House defending PGs, Allen SGs and Daniels SFs.

I agree now that he's been brought in to be the backup 3. I just don't think that's a great idea - I think he's an ideal backup 2, eating some minutes at the 1 and 3. I guess I'd just like another big defensive body at the 3 or a real backup 1 in case of injury to Rondo.

I would rather have him playing the backup 2, but I'm 85% sure he will be the backup 3...which he is capable of.

PG?? i doubt he will play it in Boston. I can't wait for Doc to clarify this, or Danny to sign a pg so this argument can end already.

I don't believe he's going to be backup pg.  I think Danny will sign someone else.

I agree with those who say he'll primarily be the backup 3, but will occasionally play backup PG with House at the 2 and each guards the other position.  Maybe Pierce brings the ball up in this lineup a bit as well.  But I think we're still looking for a legit PG, especially if Pruitt is part of the S+T.

I'm really looking forward to our bench units next season - we've managed to acquire 2 new guys who between them can play all 5 positions.  Doc's gonna have a lot more lineup options with that kind of versatility.

If you're happy with Pruitt, you'd be ecstatic with about 5 unsigned guys in the Vegas Summer League, because they were way better than Pruitt.

Somehow I doubt that.  Can you list them?

i think marcus williams might be worth a look. i prefer gabe's defense and shooting tho.

I think we'll see the line up of:

1 House
2/3 Ray & Daniels or Paul & Daniels
4/5 insert Sheed and other backup bigs

Daniels can handle the ball and guard either the 2 or 3. House will play shooting guard and defend the 1. It'll sometimes result in cross matching.

actually yes, passing is one of his strengths.

his size and lack of an outside shot are what limit him from a Point forward role. he can play it when pressed, but he won't be our backup PG.

I doubt he will be playing PG at all in Boston...

Imagine him on the court with Eddie. A 6'6 guy at the point and a 5'11 guy on the wing.

why would that be bad, you would think they would swap on D, and eddie would cover the opposing PG, allowing Daniels to check the SG.

I agree with you that he won't be playing much PG here, but a 6'6 defender on the other teams SG is the least of my worries.

I can't see this happening but with rondo pulling high 30's-40 minutes a night Daniels offers us minutes at sf and sg.  He is a true swingman and if he can give us minutes as 3rd string pg great.

Yes.  Something like that is much more likely.  On most night and certainly in the playoffs, we're not going to need a backup 1, 2, and 3.  More than likely, Daniel and House will handle that, and that's it.  Might Bill Walker or Tony Allen or whoever is still here when the season starts see 5-10 mpg?  Sure, but with Rondo averaging 35-40 mpg and Pierce and Allen seeing 32-36 (though probably closer to 35-40 come playoff time), there's only 32-45 mpg to cover backing up the 1-3 spots.  Daniels and House should be able to cover that pretty much by themselves.

Furthermore, while Daniels may handle the ball when Rondo is out (at least at times), it doesn't mean Ainge is going after another SF.  All it means is that Eddie will be playing the defensive 1 and the offensive 2 and Daniels will be playing the defensive 2 (or 3) and the offensive 1.
