I think Steph may come back. I hope so atleast...lol ;D Thats why DA is doing a sign and trade with Indy instead of using the LLE for Daniels. That LLE may be used for Marbury instead. In the NBA there are incentives. Marbury could easily sign for the LLE (1.9MILL), and have an incentive to avg so many pts, assists, and turn overs. to get another 100-300 grands or so. ???
You can't have incentives like that in the NBA. If you sign someone to the LLE, that is their salary that year, period. You can't add a few hundred thousand dollars later.

  • There can only be one.
One last attempt to get him to come back. Hope this works.  :-\

@StarburyMarbury A lot of us Celtics fans would love to have you back in Boston, man. Just keep that in mind when you're choosing teams.

Can't we sign Marbury outright without the LLE?

Yes, but he already didn't accept the veteran's, which is about all we have left (unless we get Daniels in the S+T)

Can't say I care to use the LLE on Marbury, not after how he responded to the C's this offseason.

I'd rather use it on another big to round out our depth there. Especially since we're still in limbo with Glen.

No thanks on Marbury.  Good attitude, hard working, but not a good fit. At the one we either need Pruitt or someone of his size to play alongside Eddie. A second unit of four undersized players (if BBD returns) is not a good unit.

Marbury is not undersized for a point guard.  Most point guards are small these days.

Nice I wanted to say the same thing, but I just got Twitter and don't know how to send a message specific to someone.

I'd rather have Marbury at the LLE than TJ Ford.

Marbury knows the system and the role.
sometimes you have to bite your lip, exhale and move on.  So, I have.

He's undersized when you team him with House. So we'd have two guards at under 6'1", a small forward at 6'6", a pf with BBD who is listed at 6'9" but probably closer to 6'6", and then Wallace. That's just a short second unit.  Doc doesn't play a swarming defense, so teams could easily take advantage of the small guards, posting them up.  Teaming Eddie with a taller point guard is the better option. That was my point.

I'd welcome Steph back with open arms, with the acknowledgment that he may not play in every game.  Offensively he and House had great chemistry; you make your opponents match you, not the other way around.  Our team d is strong, especially adding Wallace in in the middle, so you can keep opposing guards from posting up, if that's what we're worried about.  I think Steph has a lot left in the tank and if he comes in from day 1 with a green light, its another weapon at our disposal.  Do it Danny =)  Especially at the vet min, I'd much rather have employee #8 v2 than #13 (and I'm not talking about Todd Day)

At the vet min (not the LLE) I wouldn't mind. It would be good to see him for a full training camp. Offensively he has had some good games (though he had some terrible games too), and he does play well with House (not defensively though).

The one play I thought was great was the game swinigng play, when we beat the Spurs at San Antonio, and the run was sparked by Marbury taking a charge from Duncan. I hope to see more of that if he's at training camp.

I don't think he truly accepts the role, plus do we really know if he'll be able to come in and be effective. You can't shoot around 36% as a PG.

Rondo can...just saying.

Again, Marbury is probably better than most PG's that would accept the minimum. If Marbury would accept it, I wouldn't mind it.
