He ought to be paying the Celtics the MLE(at least) for the privilege of taking a roster spot from someone who can actually play.

TP. Good one (although I wouldn't mind if Steph was back for the vet min).

He just doesn't seem to realize that the Cs closed the door on HIM.
Celtics fan for life.

Just look at this team so far for a second.  I think on paper we have a chance to be the greatest basketball team of all-time.   Maybe even the 2nd best team ever, 2nd to the 1992 USA Dream Team.  I think we are just a few moves away.   Imagine this, we re-sign BBD, re-sign Powe, re-sign Marbury, and keep TA.  That would give us 11 players who averaged over 7 PPG last year(playing more than 45 games)on a team that will most likely only give up 90 PPG.  KG,PP,Ray,Rondo,Perk,Sheed,Marquis,House,BBD,Powe & TA all averaged over 7 PPG last year.  To my knowledge no team has ever had more than 9 guys average over 7 PPG for a season(min 45 games).  I know the 1981-82 Nuggets had 8, and last year we had 9, but I don't think any team has had more than 9 in a year.   This team would be absolutetly ridiculous.  The only guy on our roster to not avg at least 7 PPG last year would be Marbury. And this is a guy who has avergaed 19.3 PPG for his career.   No team could possibly be any more stacked.

When Marbury was rusty he was still more valuable on the floor than Pruitt.

Marbury was an above average passer and still very effective at driving to the hoop.  His jump shot was awful, but I was very impressed that the very next day after the post season ended he was seen at the Celtics practice facility shooting by himself.  Say what you will, but everyone on this board would have taken a day off after the playoffs, etc.  Or more like a week.  Yet Marbury was working to improve.

If he got his shot back and shook off some more rust, which he's doing this offseason, then he'd be a valuable backup to Rondo.  He's definitely better than any other crap option out there.

One correction, he couldn't finish any of his drives either. Hence why he was the second worst shooting player in the NBA.

true lol.  at least he attacked the basket though, as opposed to timid Pruitt.  The Marbury drive and dish was effective until people realized he couldn't finish well.  Hopefully he gets that aspect of his game back.

I'd take Marbury but that locker room is gonna be awfully small for all those egos...prolly wasn't exactly spacious last year either.

Honestly no one we're going to get as the 3-4 guard is going to be better than Marbs. Why not take him back on a 1-yr deal? I honestly think he can get back to at least half of the old Marbs, which would give us the best NBA bench in years..

Well said. TP. He also did a great job of playing swarming defense. He isn't what I would call a great defender by any means, but similar to Eddie he does a great job of ball denial and disrupting things.

The efforts to elevate Pruitt into some kind of meaningful role on this team next year when his accomplishments in the NBA are the same as Stephen A. Smith - none - are absurd.

Pruitt's not a factor. Not this year, not next year, not ever.

Marbury's fine at the minimum. I'm OK, also, if Danny wants to use House and MD in the role.

No Marbury.  He is already unhappy that no one wants to pay him.  Lets hope the Celtics do not take him back so he can be unhappy with his contract in the Celtics lockerroom.

I'm with you fella's. Marbury's shot has nothing to do with rust of practice.

its not his shot, its confidence in his shot... his game just doesn't fit in our offense. Marbury's gotta just clear out and take his man.

It's good, but I don't know if unstoppable is the right word. Recognize that a lot of people would prefer a decent ball-handler but good / big defender at PG, so that we could make up for House's defensive deficiencies. Our backcourt as of now is very, very small.

I twittered this post to marbury just to show him that we (the fans) are behind him. There isnt anyone i would rather have as the backup PG. I am fully trusting if something was to happen that he could take the start and be fine. Maybe with enough of us we can get him to A) Take the offer if its still available or B) Maybe take the veterans minimum.

Come on marbury and danny. Work it out
