I look at it this way: if Stephon Marbury comes back, what he does is make it so that the second unit backcourt is going to be House/Marbury rather than House/Allen.  If not Marbury, then whatever free agent is available on the cheap stands a good chance of being the point guard equivalent of Mikki Moore.

So, especially if you're not a fan of Tony Allen, then you need to ask yourself if you like the idea of Marbury taking minutes away from Tony Allen, or if you prefer to gamble on Doc Rivers allowing one of Pruitt/Hudson/Giddens to break through and earn some playing time, or if you want to hope that Ainge can find someone useful with what might turn out to be the fifth-best point guard willing to take (that is, unable to get an offer for more than) the minimum.

Without a doubt. The man had his head right last year but was, imho, just very rusty.  Get a full training camp under his belt and we are good.  Don't forget Edie's weakness in bringing the ball up the court.

The ideal scenario is a 6'5" PG type who can be used to defend SG's while House deals with PG's on defense.  Marquis Daniels and Antonio Daniels might make some sense.

Starbury stay in Boston to win your title(s).   Does anybody realize how many superstars we can have on this team with KG,PP,Ray,Rondo,Sheed,Marbury and BBD,Perk who are almost superstars.   Nobody can compare with us.   What does LA have:Kobe,Pau,Odom,Artest and maybe Bynum,Fisher.  That is 8-6 in our favor.  How about Cavs:Bron,Shaq, maybe Delonte, Mo.  That is 8-4 in our favor.  We will crush everybody. KG,PP,Ray,Rondo,Sheed,Marbury,BBD,Perk,House,TA,Powe,1 more signing=18,19 etc.   With this lineup Celtics will go 68-14,16-5 World Champs.

All Star has to do is get his shot selection back, that is it. Everything else is ok.  He just has to make more shots and not be hesitant when to shoot.  Plus he will be a lot better this year, than last.

Not worried about the egos either.  These guys will be having lots of fun making LA,CLE & ORL SA look like also rans.   Only 5 teams have a real shot this year at the title.

Actually if we get Grant.  This will be the most stacked team of all-time.  If you just look at the numbers these guys have produced over the years it is ridiculous.  No team throughout NBA history can compare.  That would be 6 players(almost) who have averaged 20 points or more during a season(KG,PP,Ray,Sheed(19.3),Hill,Star).  3 players who could be all-stars in the next few years(Rondo,BBD,Perk).  2 great bench players(Powe,House) And finally everybody's favorite Celtic I know the people on this blog will love to read it:TA.  People can dis TA all they want, but he would be an impressive 12th man, that is for sure.

This roster will make the Lakers so scared they will move back to Minneapolis and hope they can draft Mikan again.

So you take last year's team that almost went to the ECF, almost could have even went to the finals and you add KG,Sheed,Grant & a healthy Powe.
This will be the greatest team of all-time the 2009-10 Boston Celtics.

Um, dude, one of these names is really, really below the others, and I'm not talking about Starbury.

Yeah, I'd take Stephon back.  I don't think he'd be some sort of cancer or something like that.  And I don't see too many better options to be had for the vet minimum who would be willing to play back-up PG.  I like the idea of them adding all these guys with a lot of basketball IQ.

I must've missed the era where Marbury was a superstar.  Marbury is way below everybody on that list.  Like Iverson.  Great stats....Career loser.  Like Iverson, some brain dead GM will overpay Marbury....But the vet minimum is overpaying either one of them if your goal is to win games.  If your goal is to sell jerseys and shoes, pick them up.

Rondo a superstar? Might want to tell everyone outside of Boston Celtics forums.

And how do people call Marbury a career loser when he has been to the playoffs with the Timberwolves(Who weren't a playoff team prior), the Suns(Who had fresh faced Amare and Marion, and almost beat the eventual champions, and Marbury made a game winning buzzer beater), the Knicks(Who blew up for the millionth time and had so many problems courtesy of Allan Houston's contract), and Boston(where he arguably won us a game in the Conference semis).

Want to know what Marbury's problem is? He is a point guard. Superstar point guards almost ALWAYS end up on awful teams or at least perenial early round exiters. Look at both Paul and Deron. Why? Because when the team is paying 15-20 million for a poing guard, the front court usually sucks.

Utah's frontcourt sucks?  I'll take a Okur, Kirilenko, Boozer, Millsap frontcourt anytime.

The difference between Chris Paul / Deron Williams (beyond the whole humility and narcissistic thing) and Marbury is that Marbury has never played both ends of the court.  He put forth effort defensively with us...But it was pretty much wasted effort.  Arm waving and jumping around isn't defending.

Comparing Marbury to Paul and Deron Williams is like comparing Shareef Abdur-Rahim to Garnett.  All have great stats.  Williams, Paul, and Garnett makes their teams better.  Marbury never has.  When a player's coach like D'Antoni would rather sit his most talented player because it's better for his team, it's pretty much all a person needs to know about Marbury.  That's not mentioning his histrionics with his previous two coaches to D'Antoni.

If Marbury was half as good as he thinks he is, he'd truly be a superstar.

Iverson made the playoffs more often than not. More often than not he was surrounded by sub par talent. He has been an MVP and lead the league in scoring several times. He is a hall of famer, come on.
As far as selling shoes. Marbury has a line of shoes that is targeted towards inner city youth that sell for about 30 dollars. That sounds like he's a pretty good guy.
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon

Let's not mention how he was a huge contributor to Katrina relief, one of the top if not the top contributor in the NBA.

Not a chance. We already played russian roulette once and lived. Marbury said he right things but he was a horror show on the court and it's only a matter of time before the "real" Marbury shows up. He was a good soldier last year. Let's end things on a reasonably happy note and wish him well somewhere else. There are other options.

Not to mention paying him less then he thinks he is worth is a good way to bring out the "real" Marbury.
