Marbury never had any interest in Washington.

It was a fabricated story.

Supposedly 3 teams have contacted his PA agent.
Three teams might have contacted his agent but that doesn't mean three teams have offered him more money than the Celtics. If all the money is the same then I bet he signs a one year vet min deal here.

I bet my life that it has to do with the length of the contract, not the amount.

I'm not going to cry if Marbury signs elsewhere, but I'd prefer him over Lue.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Since we now also have Sheed, Marbury scares the k-rap outta me again. We're getting too many egos.

If he believes he's worth more than the vet min why would he want a contract that is longer than one year?

I'd probably take him back, but I'd wait a  while and at least make him sweat out summer league and see what Hudson can do

He proved last year that his ego is not too large to play for the Celtics. He put his ego a side and tried really hard last year passing the ball a lot and not taking many shots.

I've made the point elsewhere but I'd give Pruitt a big look.  If he can't cut it, cut him  ;) .  As for marbury I'd rather look for a big defensive pg who can hand off the ball.  Steph did work on d no doubt about it he was just not fast enough to stay with his man.  If the 2nd backcourt is eddie & marbury than we have a nice offensive combo (stay off steph since his j is gone) but our defense takes a dive.  I'd rather have eddie as pg with ray (or hill) handling the ball.

We lose nothing by waiting. If he gets better money elsewhere he would be gone anyway. It gives us time to check out Lester and other PG options. They can't be too high on Pruitt being the answer seeing as they wanted Marbury back at the minimum. Just because we haven't seen a lot of Gabe doesn't mean Danny and Doc haven't.

If Marbury doesn't get more money elsewhere I think he's back.

He proved last year that he had the common sense not to cause waves. A whole season of playing 10 mins or less when he feels like he's a starter still, when a healthy KG, trade rumor prone Rondo, expiring Ray Allen and Captain America Paul Pierce plus a volatile Rasheed Wallace are all getting the attention, will Marbury still have the sense to shut up and play? Will he continue his 'good boy' act when the media doesn't care enough to ask him how he's doing anymore?

I just don't think the guy can be anonymous.

That's my worry too. Plus he shot so terribly last year, I'm not convinced he can come back and be a productive NBA player.

I would LOVE to resign Marbury... He'll have an offseason to get himself in better shape, shake the rust off... A full trainning camp under his belt with the team... He'll get to play with KG... and he'll also have the experience from last season and know what not to do and what he has to do to succeed on this team... I am all up for bring Marbury back!

I would take that bet if it was legal.

Marbury is at a point where a one year contract is better. If he is confident he will perform better over an entire season and does, his leverage increases. I don't think he wants a multi-year minimum contract (does that even exists?)

I imagine it do even exists, but marbury's minimum would be like 2 million or something, not the 700 thou that youngins play for.

I agree though, Marbury still needs to prove he can play at the level he says he can play at.

If he is going to accept the vet. minimum, it will definitely be solely a one-year deal so that he can raise his value with some tangible improvement.  The thought that he wants to lock himself into a long-term deal at that low number makes absolutely no sense.

It does exist, I think Marbury wanted the LLE or at least a raise off the minimum.

Not going to happen though, with his comments about minutes and wanting a better offer I'm nervous if he ends up returning.
