a couple of things. First with Sheed and Hill and vet PG, the Celtics will be hugely over the cap. The situation has changed financially for all the teams and the Celtics owners are carrying a big debt load with hyperinflation around the corner. As much as I like BBD, a lower price option may come from the Celtic's summer team in Smith, Sweetny or Faseakas.
Like I mentioned in another thread, the spurs remember the defensive job that BBD did on Duncan.
If Sweetney is in shape, he would be interesting with Sheed.

You rarely get value back in a sign and trade. Biggest benefit is usually a trade exception... or if you are dealing with the Hawks.

Love the fact that Sheed is comin here and Grant Hill is pretty much on his way... but UUUUUGGGGHHHHH I REALLY WANT BIG BABY TO STAY AND THE CELTICS BETTER MATCH ANY OFFER FROM THE SPURS (unless it is the full MLE)!
You really want everything, huh

Is Matt Bonner in a sign and trade to much to ask (maybe we throw in something else?)

This is probably the saddest day of my fan-life since the Lakers won their third title in a row in 2002.

For real?  Is it personality-motivated or do you hate Sheed's game and love Baby's?

If it's the latter, I have to disagree.  Baby rebounds a little, shoots a lot, makes a little and he's set to make a lot of money. If the Spurs are signing him, it means they aren't signing McDyess, and that makes me happy.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Jimmy Butler
PF: Pau Gasol
C: Yao Ming

Can somebody besides the stuck-up, holier than thou Boston sports media (minus Bob Ryan) report this story before we treat it as fact?  I hate most of those guys so much.

I don't think even the Boston sports media has reported it.

Yes, that's too much to ask.

Tanguay counts as part of it.

What sources does he have though, I thought this was just another "gut" feeling of his. Same with the Grant Hill. I think its the most likely scenario now, but I doubt BBD has even recieved an offer yet.

I don't think he even reported it. I think he simply said "I have a feeling" or something along those lines.

if this is true, then i think we definitely need to re-sign Leon. the reason being that we will be signing Big Baby's replacement with the vet minimum and that's not going to get you a player anywhere near the level of Baby.

at least with Leon, there is the chance he comes back this season and returns to his form.

Co-sign.

Ainge's decision not to offer Powe a qualifying offer looks worse and worse. Still, Wallace (!) can split his minutes between the 4/5 so Celtics should manage without Davis.

And however this shakes out (we'll have a week to match, won't we?) I wish Baby the best.

Yup, I wouldn't get too worked up on it yet. I do hope that if we can get him at 3 per year or under we'd match an offer for BBD. He's worth Scalabrine money.

I don't think this changes anything about not making the QO to Leon. If anything it makes it less questionable as our front court just got a lot better.

These people say it is a "gut feeling" all the time, and we treat it as gospel, such as Teixeria playing for the Sox.  Nothing is official until it comes from a reliable source.
