Yeah, if they sign Hill I guess that is the big question:

Who is the back-up PG?

I'm hoping the answer isn't Tyron Lue!

If they sign Hill, I think Eddie is the backup PG, with Hill having primary ball-handling responsibilities on the second unit.

So is Hill the 2 in that scenerio? And if that's the case, are we still without a back-up for Paul?

Grant Hill has "earned" $126 million over his career so far.  He played for $1.9m last year.  He can either take one more payday, and toil for a horrible Knicks team, or take another $1.9m and play for the Celtics.

If the Knicks are foolish enough to offer the guy three years and $14m or so, does Hill leave $12m on the table and sign with Boston?  Why do the Knicks even want a 37 year old wing, especially on a three year contract?

If Hill is signed, we'd need another PG regardless. In what role? Don't know.

Like some have said I would rather have a younger more athletic backup for Pierce but having Hill will help this team big time off the bench. Get wait to see Sheeds presser tomorrow and hopefully hill can be there as well!

That idea sent a shiver down my spine. Hmmmm, did they line up the presser for Thursday with the intent of introducing another signed player?

You don't think Hill would help the Knicks? Of course they won't be title contenders, but he is a skilled player.

They want to spend their money one someone who doesn't need a long term contract and Hill has already played in D'Antoni's system. They are the Knicks. They have a lot of money. It would be silly for them to not spend it, even if they are waiting for next year to lock up players. A better record this year would also be more attractive to next year's FA class and to Knicks fans this year.
For the kind of money the Knicks are supposedly ready to pay, I think you can find a better fit than Hill.  He's had trouble staying healthy in recent years and that ain't going to change as he gets older -- more like the opposite.

I like him a lot as a $2 million backup for Pierce getting 15-20 minutes a game.  But I don't think he's worth much more than that.

In the playoffs there would be a 4 man bench as part of the main rotation: House, Hill, Davis, Wallace.

In the regular season, Tony, Giddens and Walker get their chance to shine.

By the way, a Hill/House backcourt means some tough work for Thibs and the frontcourt behind them.  That's not gonna be the quickest defensive unit ever.

Roy-
do they just keep pruitt then? or do they let him walk

No matter what, I think there will be 1 PG project on the team: Pruitt or Hudson. Pruitt has to prove himself before August 10th.

In the playoffs, Pierce or Allen would play with those 2.

I gotta say, that is a pretty decent sounding 4 man bench.  You left out Scals though ;D!

If our second Unit includes Hill, Sheed, and House thats a pretty good veteran group. I think Doc can deel with throwing a young player in there with all them. Put Pruitt or Hudson in as the Point, but let House guards the PG.

Hudson/Pruitt
House
Hill
Sheed
(4th Big)

i could live with that... and hell if you get a veteran PG you could go:

(veteran pg)
House
Walker
Hill
Sheed

I think you give Pruitt a shot and if it doesn't work out, you're back looking for next season's Cassel/Marbury in Feb.  But I also think you've got a better chance of finding someone this year given the financial situation league-wide.

Hill is the point forward, backing up Paul.

TA would likely be the 2.
