Here's an update from the man of the moment:

Gary_Tanguay - A league source told me while the Knicks have increased their offer to Grant Hill the Celtics are working on signing Hill tonight.

Well, let's hope he's right.  Tanguay has gotten himself a lot of attention this off-season, and I'd be happy if it turned out to be deserved.

So far I think it's deserved... he has been quite accurate with everything he has said. At least the information he has brought to us from sources has been accurate, what his gut tells him is another thing... but that part is just his opinion and just about everyone is wrong when opinions are thrown around. But the information he has given has been quite legit.

Why in the world would the Knicks pay this guy?  He would do them absolutely no good.  Common sense would indicate he goes to a team like the Celts.
You don't think Hill would help the Knicks? Of course they won't be title contenders, but he is a skilled player.

The want to spend their money one someone who doesn't need a long term contract and Hill has already played in D'Antoni's system. They are the Knicks. They have a lot of money. It would be silly for them to not spend it, even if they are waiting for next year to lock up players. A better record this year would also be more attractive to next year's FA class and to Knicks fans this year.

Well, I don't think he was accurate re: Orlando / San Antonio being interested in BBD.  He got the Rasheed thing correct, but I'm still going to want to see more before I find him to be a credible source.

I'm with you Roy. I admit I was hoping for a younger addition via S&T, but Hill is a good option. If these guys stay healthy, I really believe No. 18 will happen in June 2010.

Yeah, if they sign Hill I guess that is the big question:

Who is the back-up PG?

I'm hoping the answer isn't Tyron Lue!

Well, if Tanguay is right again, his batting average would be .667, and he's been predicting moves quite a while before the "reliable" sources in the mainstream.  Even if he's wrong, I've been impressed with his transformation from clueless talking head to leading insider.
2025 Draft: Chicago Bulls

PG: Chauncey Billups/Deron Williams
SG: Kobe Bryant/Eric Gordon
SF: Jimmy Butler/Danny Granger/Danilo Gallinari
PF: Al Horford/Zion Williamson
C: Yao Ming/Pau Gasol/Tyson Chandler

If they sign Hill, I think Eddie is the backup PG, with Hill having primary ball-handling responsibilities on the second unit.

Considering that he wasn't the only one reporting the interest they had for him, I think he wasn't making stuff up. Don't know about Orlando, but San Antonio I'm quite sure was interested in him... they just got Dice who were their priority.

Like some have said I would rather have a younger more athletic backup for Pierce but having Hill will help this team big time off the bench. Get wait to see Sheeds presser tomorrow and hopefully hill can be there as well!

If Hill is signed I think the backup PG will be House. I'd rather have him over Lue, Bobby Jackson, Anthony Carter, etc. There just aren't any good affordable FA PGs out there.

And the roster would be too stacked to give Marbury the minutes needed to keep him happy.
