6 Years ago, Hill, Rasheed, Pierce, KG, Allen would have been among the nastiest 5 players assembled together on a single team.

Here's hoping they can collectively help win Banners 18 & 19.

So to confirm it appears Hill is a done deal?

I don't think this is confirmed at all yet. I think we have a good shot at him though.

Let hope our young guys can develop.  I don't want to be left with an old folks home in Boston after we shoot for the fences and let younger guys go who can contribute.

I doubt it. Seems more to me like a poorly started thread.

On Grant Hill... how are we going to sign him?  LLE?  1.6 mil or something?  Is that really enough?  Or is it going to be a sign-and-trade where we give up some players?

Hill signed for the Vet. Minimum just a couple years ago.  He may have upped his value in the meantime by staying pretty [dang] healthy (all things considered), but I imagine he'd be just fine taking the LLE.  At this point in his career I have a feeling Hill isn't out for money.

All just based on Gary Tanguay, doesn't mean it won't happen. But definitely not a done deal.

I think Grant Hill doesn't care about money anymore. He got his huge contract and then took less in Phoenix.

Larbrd,
Are you sad about losing your Obese?

I don't hate Obese.  I just think he is overrated.  People looked at him getting 20 and 6 and assumed he was picking up the production for KG.  What they weren't seeing was that Davis was the beneficiary of his teammates... whereas KG's teammates benefited from him.   By having Glen in there, it hurt everyone else, because it made their jobs much harder.  Nobody guarded him.  His shots were wide open looks for a reason.  Even though I think Sheed might be washed up, he's obviously a major upgrade over Glen Davis... so I could care less if Glen leaves for the Spurs.  No big deal.

Well, we are not giving up anyone who would actually be a significant building block.  Glenn Davis is a nice role player on a good team, but if we were rebuilding, he would just be our Hakim Warrick, or even our Sean May.

I'd like him for depth purposes, but yes going from BBD to Sheed is a huge upgrade in my opinion.

I just listened to Bucher on the front of ESPN commenting on this.  He said that apparently the Celtics are "still looking to do other things" and basically mentioned that they wanted to wrap this up asap with Sheed to allow them to explore that.

Am I reading way too much into his comments?

Could this pave the way for a trade now that we have locked up Sheed?  Or is he just referring to more signings like Grant Hill?

Interesting.  Danny still looking to make moves?  We had offered Perk for the #2, right?  Perk on his way out?

Forget all the talk about technicals (KG / Wallace / Perkins), if the Celts add Grant Hill; they'll have two of the nicest guys in the NBA with Allen and Hill.  I would think that with this line up, Wallace is not going to be an issue.

I also think there's still a chance Danny trades Allen, Ainge is super conscious about a team getting old at the same time....but that's for another day.

Good night.
