  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Portland has finalized its pre-draft stable of picks, and plans on staying put until players are on the board.  Offers, as usual, will be considered, but we're pretty content with six picks in the first 3 1/2 rounds.

Right now, the net effect of our trades has been:

POR trades: 1(16), 5(16), 10(15), 12(15)

POR receives: 2(5), 3(12), 4(5), 7(3), 13(27), 13(28)

That's pretty fair value, I think.  (We're not in love with the deal we made with nick, but we'll see who's left on the board in the 13th).

I like where you're sitting.

In Toronto we have only kept one of our original picks and that is the 28th pick in the 8th round

Obviously I like your first few rounds. I think you're going to find though that having no picks for multiple rounds is going to have the same effect as being in solitary confinement, and you'll end up making a pretty big deal to get back in the game.

Also it puts a TON of pressure on you not to take the wrong guy.

Response from Sarah Palin.  "Given the events of the past years election, I have a great deal of experience picking the wrong guy to hitch my wagon too.  But at the same time I have learned from that experience and hey I've been spewing the, "Change you can believe in," slogan up here in toronto so it has bought me a great deal of blind faith.  And in response to the solitary confinement issue.  We in the Toronoto office are not worried about that.  I am currently very busy trying to change the face of the franchise, so busy I may forget when I am suppoed to pick, but THIS HOCKEY MOM IS BRINGING BASKETBALL TO CANADA!"

Denver is interested in selling it's two 6th rounders (3rd and 4th) for a 4th rounder (and probably a later pick)

Also willing to part with a 10th and 12th for a 9th.

My assets:2(14), 2(16), 3(17), 4(14), 4(16), 5(10), 5(17), 5(19), round 7 pending trade approval, 9(17), 10(14), 11(17), 13(17), 14(14), 15(17)

That's 8 picks in the first 5 rounds, but no pick before the 44th in the draft. Take what you can get I suppose.

Hard to believe I am the staff member with the highest pick after ending up with such a weak starting point.

You should meet my friends 9 thru 11 and 13 thru 15. They'll save me if I take Allen Iverson with a top pick...

your friends 9-11 and 13-15 to spell Allen Iverson?  As JSAAD says, lets put some players to those numbers
Rd 9- Chris Douglas Roberts
Rd 10-Etan Thomas
rd 11- Donyell Marshall
Rd 13- Carlos Delfino
rd 14-Alexander Johnson
rd 15- Nick Fazekas

Those are the 1st overall picks from the rounds you mentioned last year.  who there is going to save you if your first pick is a bust?

Actually, Delfino was a good pick, especially if he returns this season.

I know Delfino was, but he was a longshot and also nowhere near what would be able to take the pressure off a bad pick.  And for the sake of argument IP has the 17th pick in the 13th round.  Delfino went first in that round.

13-17 last year was.....Patrick Ewing Jr

Well thank god I don't have the first pick in any of those rounds!

Guys taken middle to late in each round:
9:Jason Thompson, Roger Mason Jr, Courtney Lee
10:Chris Andersen CJ Miles
11: Deandre Jordan, George Hill, Keith Bogans
13:Jose Barea
14...ah I don't care anymore.

Those picks do matter though.
