Thank god Danny hasn't been able to unload Rondo because of those crazy contract demands I keep reading about...

unfortunately, what Rondo actually wants in contract extension is kind of irrelevant at this point. this "Rondo wants an unreasonable contract" notion has taken on a life of its own.

and putting out the fires is a lot tougher than starting them.

anyway, 10-11 mil per is an extremely reasonable contract for him. I say lock him up if that's what he's looking for...

Taken on a life of its own where? On websites like this?

you think this is the only place where the reasons behind Rondo being shopped is being discussed?

  No, there's also realgm.

Do you think other GMs check out celticsblog to find out whether Rondo's being shopped because of his salary demands, or do you think they'd talk to his agent?

right, because agents are always straightforward about money when it comes to their players.

you might want to have a conversation with Theo and John Henry about the Teixeira dealings...

So they're going to go to websites like this or espn.com for "the real scoop"? Come on.

No they actually post on this messageboard.

Roy Hobbs is actually Danny Ainge. How do you think he has so many great posts, and is able to go to big apple for the draft? Surely Celticsblog.com couldn't afford to send him otherwise.

who said they are GOING to ESPN....where do you think the rumors are coming from about why Rondo was being shopped?

do you really think they were generated on celticsblog and then ended up on ESPN?

Now is that a 10 million average or 10 million the 1st year?

If it is a 10 million  average, sounds like a good starting point.  In fact, Ainge now has room to go under because Rondo just set himself a lower ceiling then his agent want.

Excellent point.

If it's an average, backloaded, I'm fine with that.

Get this done, Danny:

1. Offer Ray a 2-3 years at $9-10million rate
2. Offer Rajon a 5 year / $50 million deal

It would be great to lock Rondo for the next 5 years at this price, hopefully this will come true!

Rondo at 10 a year for five yes...Ray at ten a year for two? Eh, Id have to think hard about that one.

Ray for 8 million per x3 is more like it. Even 10-8-6 with last year being Ray's option and incentives to bump it to 8. Ray will not get more than the midlevel in a multi year deal next season. He may get 10 million for one from a cellar dweller at the most. He would have to like the longer term deal.

Rondo for 5/50 is good, but he will not see more than that on the open market for a first contract. Why not ask for a home town discount? 5/45 or something along those lines IMO.

Both of these guys are worth locking up long term, I do think the owners will hold a lot more leverage in the league for the next couple of years. The only big payouts over 15 million per, in the near future will be the Lebron, D  Wade, Dwight Howard, Chris Paul, type players.

There is not really a new Kobe, KG, Dirk, Duncan or Paul Pierce type player out there that can carry a team on their back right now. No one else comes to mind that fits that 20 million per neighborhood. Guys like Bosh, Melo and Amare will not break the 15 million per level IMO. They just arent that big of a difference maker on their own and have proven it.

Rondo signing for 50 mill/5 years would be a good deal if he shows more progress this year -- develops at least a consistent 15 foot jumper.

Three is more than two. Plus, you can't buy clutch. No matter how old he gets, Ray Allen is clutch. I rest my case.
