BOS Gets: Steven Jackson, Darius Songaila, Brendan Haywood, Anthony Morrow & Kelene Azubuike and the #7 pick (GSW)
Boston Gives: Ray Allen, Bill Walker, JR Giddens

GSW Gets: Deshawn Stevenson, Mike James, Nick Young, JR Giddens and the #5 pick (WSH)
GSW Gives: Steven Jackson, Anthony Morrow, Brendan Wright and their #7 pick

WSH: Gets Ray Allen, Brendan Wright and Bill Walker
WSH: Gives: Mike James, Nick Young, Deshawn Stevenson, Brendan Haywood, Darius Songaila and their #5 pick

For Boston: We get a proven playoff vet to replace Allen in Steven Jackson (not as good a shooter, but better on defense, gives us a big wing with peirce and him), solves our backup big man woes with haywood and songaila, and gives us solid back-up SG and SF with Morrow and Azibuike.

For Golden State:  They get a nice back up PG/place holder in James (as well as over $7mil in expiring deals with stevenson&james), a nice player in Young, and most importantly the ability to get a PG they want as opposed to "whatever PG is left."  Most mock drafts only have the Rubio going in the top 4, but by the 7th pick you're likely going to get the 3rd or 4th best PG.  Moving up two spots isnt great but it gives them a shot at the guy they really want... whoever that may be.

For Washington: They have been willing to give up the #5 pick for a veteran to help them win now and/or cap space.  This is a great deal for them because they get Ray Allen, who can help them now, and his massive expiring contract.  They also get Brendan Wright for their troubles.  Yes, they're giving up a lot of height, but if you look at their roster, they have luxury to do so.  Blatche, Javele Mcgee, Etan Thomas, Mcguire, Pecherov - they're loaded in the front court.  They also shed songaila's contract.

The best part of this deal is that with the #7 pick in the draft the C's have the amazing luxury of having a lottery pick with no identifiable need;

1: Rondo
2/3: Jackson
2/3: Peirce
4: KG
5: Perk

Bench: (5)Haywood, (2)House, (3)Azibuike, (2)Morrow

We can do whatever the hell we want with the 7th pick.  Pick the best available player, trade down, trade for a future #1 in a better draft... the world is our oyster!  And I love that Morrow kid, he was great against us last year.  AND don't we have a team option on TA's contract? If so we can just let him go to trim salary.

Well, the move certainly helps the Celtics.  I don't see the incentive for Golden State, though, and I think there will be better options for Washington.  Giving up Young, Haywood, and the #5 seems like a lot for just cap space.

Better options then a great vet (exactly what they've stated they're looking for) in Ray Allen who has a MASSIVE expiring contract? They want to sell they're fans on the fact they're still trying to be competitive AND shed money.  This deal gives them tons of flexibility and fills a major need for them in their starting 5.  I mean blatche and Mcgee should replace much of the production from Haywood.  I'd be willing to take on Thomas' contract but then they'd have to give us Blatche or Mcgee in place of Songaila.  They also take a flyer on Wright, I mean, the talent is there with that guy, he was just buried on the bench in GSW.

You're right about GSW though, what's they're motivation for this trade?  A couple thoughts: For one, if I'm their GM I'm making room for Anthony Randolph by unloading Jackson (Jackson's contract ain't great).  I think they don't mind losing Morrow and Azubuike bc those guys grow on trees it seems for them.  They get Nick Young, too.  And I truly believe the difference between picking 5 and 7 this year (when you need a PG) is enormous.

I certainly like the trade.  I suppose you and no one else could get us Anthony Randolph.  Based on almost nothing but my appreciation of his demeanor, I love that guy.  Can someone please work out a trade for Anthony Randolph????

keep up the good work OP!

I mean, if they were willing, I would take Randolph instead of the #7, but they would be silly to do so.

Terrible trade for GS but decent trade for the C's. Wash, I think, gives up a little too much.

I actually don't think it's that terrible for Golden State. It's not good, either, though. I could see certain things from Washington's perspective, but they talked a lot about how much losing Brendan Haywood to injury last season hurt them. I don't think they include him. If it was Etan Thomas instead, they might do it.
Go Celtics.

re looking at their roster, the warriors should probably just trade us randolph and keep the #7 pick to get Jordan Hill or Dejuan Blair... did you know that between SG and SF they have; Crawford, Ellis (they're both not PG's I dont care what people say), Morrow, Belinelli, Jackson, Maggette, Randolph, Brendan Wright and Azubuike.

Thats 9 guys!!

I mean I know Randolph and Wright are both 6'10, but neither of them have anything that resembles a low post move... I just don't get this team.  Other than Crawford, Belinelli and Wright I would love to have any of those guys.  These are the teams you trade with.

You did not include Azubuike in the GSW Gives section

This is Great for Boston and Washington, but the Golden State fans would die if this went through:

Young vs Morrow - pretty much a wash
#5 vs #7 - pretty much a wash this year

Mike James is a negative in any trade, like Scal three years ago.

So basically, you are left with Stevenson and Giddens for Jackson, their Captain, and Brendan Wright, a very promising young big.

Swap out Jackson for Maggette and/or Crawford (Players they do not want) and absorb James and the deal becomes a little more equitable.

What about?

To Golden State: Glen Davis (S/T),Brian Scalabrine, JR Giddens, and a future lottery protected #1

To Boston: Corey Maggette and the 7th pick

Basically, Golden State gives us the pick this year for getting rid of Maggette's salary.  They get a young big man with potential, a late first rounder in Giddens, and a future first rounder.

I'm not sold that trading Ray Allen is a helpful thing to do.  We have a short window.  I'd like to maximize it.

Not a bad idea.  Maggette's contract runs through another 4 seasons so we would have to be sold that he would be at team player for at least another 3 seasons before he becomes an expiring contract trade asset.  Maybe then it would be easier to then swap the 7th pick with any of the 2nd pick through 5th picks without giving up Rondo or Ray Allen.

It would basically eliminate our flexibility to get an MLE player and mean that Davis is gone, which is fine.  Maggette is expensive, but ultimately ... you end up with him and the 7th pick.

GS never does this deal. All the people you mention them trading started at least once for them this past season. Then you have them taking back 4 borderline rotation players, the best one being nick young whose pretty one dimensional, just to move up to slots in the draft?

Also, to VPofCS, Randolph and Wright are not sg/sf's, they are both PF's and even play C in nellie ball. and Azubuike has actually played alot of pf for nellie and been very effective there. Though I can understand in a more traditional sense some alot of these guys are playing out of position.

I mean you essentially listed 2/5's of their team, by listing the players who play 2/5's of the positions on the court. That makes sense to me.
