You can't think of an extra 8 Million dollars (from 72 to 80) which will come to 16 million as just something an owner just pays. It is an investment. How much money will they obtain from two more rounds of playoff series? I bet it is close to 16 million.
What if we get another key injury? what if we get bounced early? what if the contrct doesn't work out and the player stinks?
When you make an investment, as you say, you have to consider the above risk as well as the reward of a championship
Also, i don't know the finanace, im not sure 2 extra rounds of playoffs offset 16 million.
Look, as a celtics fan, if you told me they were gaurnteed a champsionhip if they spent 100 million, i'd want them to pony up. But my point was that throwing money at the problem:
A) might not be practicial to the people who actualy own the celtics. It's easy to say SPEND MORE! MONEY WILL FIX IT! when your not directly footing the bill (see: economic stimulus packages)
B) it might not work. Alot of our signigns last year were bust, and alot of that didn't have to do with money at all, it had to do with bad personal decisions.
