Underdog is a good place for the C's to be.

Plus I think the Magic need to prove that they've got the mental toughness necessary to take the next step and whether they're more talented or not, they're going to need to show some toughness to get past this Celtics team.   I also think Doc vs. Van Gundy matchup favors the C's.

It's going to be a very interesting series.

I agree, but I don't think this is good news. More often than not, the underdogs lose.

True, especially the way the NBA playoffs are set up.  It's such an endurance contest that the best team usually advances.

i agree that the underdogs usually lose.  But whats great in this scenario is that we're underdogs for no reason.  Were not like 1 vs 8 seed underdog if you know what I mean.  We're underdogs because we dont have KG not because we're not a good team.  A good team put in the underdog role usually thrives.  Look at the Bulls, great potential but never showed all of it at once.  BAM! Underdog role playing with house money and they took us 7.  Teams that are good excel in the underdog role and I expect the same from us.  Were not a bad team and anyone that thinks that is bonkers.  Were a good team and we can battle with the best of them.  This should be a great series Im super excited.

Not having KG is MASSIVE.  He's our best player.  Our team only wins because of defense and without him our defense goes from world champion level to pretty mediocre.  It's a MAJOR dropoff.

hm dont believe i ever said not having KG wasnt massive but youre discounting us as a mediocre team.  Hey if you think were mediocre thats your decision but me and everyone else on CB knows that this is still a good team and theyre ready to go to war with the Magic.  You can count us out but I'll keep on believing KG or no KG.

I watched the game yesterday with some Boston haters and sure they got on my nerves but I fought the good fight and told them off whenver they made outrageous comments.  For example, Paul Pierce not top 5 player in the league and not a HOF player.  Man did I battle that one out almost lost a tooth for the C's in that argument.

Why not just place a wager on it, make your money, and call it a day?

the c's without KG are a good team, not an elite team - while I hope they win, I realize they'd be a 5 or 6 seed if KG didn't play in the season and this would likely be a 1st round matchup - I still have faith, but am realistic too

Ummm....he's not a top 5 player in the league.  He's not even the best player on his own team.  HOF definitely.  One of the top 5 at his position definitely.
I have to agree on all points, though I'm up in the air on the best player on the team part.

When KG is healthy he's in the discussion for top 10 best players in the league.  Pierce can't say that.

The great thing about the Big 3, though, is each of the Big 3 don't have to be the best player on their team on any given night for us to win - and all 3 of them have been on teams where they always had to be the best player every night or their team would lose.

Sometimes KG is our best player, sometimes Pierce is, sometimes Ray is.  Every once in a while (or more than that nowadays) our best is Rondo.  Again, that's what makes our team great.

Still, overall, KG is our best player when he's healthy.

How can you say that the MVP of last years playoffs is not a top 10 player in the league??

Interesting 5 or 6.. well let's just say that might be a bit low.  KG is pretty good player though.  This should be good series with C's having an edge at pretty much every position besides Center where it's not too much of an edge for Orlando.  Orlando was a 3 seed...

Honestly, who cares what the media says?  I've just finished reading all of the different predictions and they are all very lacking.

For one, that idiot Hollinger says that Perk is our only shot blocker and must stay out of foul trouble.  Okay, while this is true, what about Dwight Howard?  Aren't the Magic in big trouble if he gets into foul trouble?  Hollinger never even mentions that as if it's a forgone conclussion that the refs are going to be watching Perk extra close and not Howard.  Sadly that may be true, but as I recall, that last game we lost in Orlando was done with Howard in foul trouble and they just happened to hit a slew of 3's.

Fact is, if we put Howard in foul trouble and squeeze away those 3's, we win going away.  Just stupid predictions that don't take stuff like that into consideration are ridiculous.  Means nothing.  It's hard to imagine getting paid for what these guys do.

Well, Vegas has us as underdogs, too. For the record, they had us as underdogs last year for the Finals, too.

C's are +110 to win the series. Put 100 "units" down to win 110.

sometimes the mvp of a finals team isn't the best player on the team - see cedric maxwell, tony parker, James Worthy - I think it'd be hard to put any of these guys in the top 10 in the league at the time they won it
