So I'm from New York specifically Long Island and I am a die hard Celtics fan.  I love everything about the C's their mentality, their style of play, the whole system is just ideal and i take great pride in my Cetics fanhood.  Now I watched the game yesterday with some Boston haters and sure they got on my nerves but I fought the good fight and told them off whenver they made outrageous comments.  For example, Paul Pierce not top 5 player in the league and not a HOF player.  Man did I battle that one out almost lost a tooth for the C's in that argument.  Anyway after the game we headed out to a party where I met up with more ignorant New York fans who think their crap is better than everyone else's and just as I suspected THEY WERE SAYIN MAGIC IN A SWEEP.

Boy did it feel good to hear that.  I was told that the Celtics dont have a guy to guard Howard (yeah Perk isnt one of the best defenders in the league against Howard HA so ignorant they are). Then I was told that we cant run with the Magic.  I remember quite well that the Celtics ran with the Magic in the first 2 meetings this year and blew them away.  So all in all the consensus at least in New York is that we have no chance.

Long story short, the Celtics are underdogs going into this series without KG.  You know what though we thrive in that role.  Tell us we cant do it because I know as well as everyone else on CB that we can do it.  You know what we know that few others know we have a TERRIFIC coaching staff.  Seven game series are long and take a great deal of preparation and technique.  The Bulls were a terrible matchup for us but though great coaching we survived.  I expect more of the same this time around and from here on in.  We adjust better than a ton of teams in this league.

How do you guys feel about being underdogs?

BTW LETS GO CELTICS!!
The NBA..where "this whole sport is a business and the referees decide games and David Stern is a snake and is only in this for the money" happens.

As a New Yorker (Westchester County) and having worked in Long Island for 4 years, I can tell you from experience New York basketball fans are obnoxious.  One way or another, they usually have to bring the Yankees into the conversation.  They can't deal with the fact that the Knicks and the "world's most famous arena" doesn't translate into championships.  They haven't won a title in over 35 years and they're bitter.

Let them think what they want, Celts win this series even without KG.

Winning as underdogs makes it 10 times sweeter. Let the haters hate, so when we win, all the Celtics haters will be crying. We must be doing something good to have so many people hating on us, right?  ;D

It won't be a sweep but I do believe we are underdogs, though by no means do I think we don't have a good chance of winning it.

For example, Paul Pierce not top 5 player in the league and not a HOF player.
Ummm....he's not a top 5 player in the league.  He's not even the best player on his own team.  HOF definitely.  One of the top 5 at his position definitely.

I have to agree on all points, though I'm up in the air on the best player on the team part.

When KG is healthy he's in the discussion for top 10 best players in the league.  Pierce can't say that.

The great thing about the Big 3, though, is each of the Big 3 don't have to be the best player on their team on any given night for us to win - and all 3 of them have been on teams where they always had to be the best player every night or their team would lose.

Sometimes KG is our best player, sometimes Pierce is, sometimes Ray is.  Every once in a while (or more than that nowadays) our best is Rondo.  Again, that's what makes our team great.

Still, overall, KG is our best player when he's healthy.

according to Vegas, the c's are 3 pt favories, does homecourt make that the difference?

I'd say on a neutral court Vegas would put the line at a pick or Celtics +.5

Homecourt they usually add 2-3 points depending on how close the teams are.

I disagree. He's not top 5, but you can (and it's been made on this board) a pretty good case he's somewhere in the 7-10 range of all players in the league. My list would be (assuming perfect health):

1. Lebron
2. Kobe
3. TD
4. KG
5. Wade
6. CP3
7. Yao
8. Howard
9. Pierce
10. Dirk
