I think that KG won't play in the playoffs and that we should accept it and move on. Obviously, if he made an unexpected comeback which wouldn't hurt his knee more, I'd be glad and excited but I don't care about Ainge's choice of words. It's pure speculation based on hope, in my opinion, to say that because he "planned" on him not returning and that he didn't say that he "won't" play, KG will probably play in the playoffs.

I can't blame you for believing it but I've accepted the fact that KG won't come back until next year. And I'm sure Ainge and Doc would not announce KG's comeback to the media because they would like to use it as a "trick" against their opponent.

Exactly, TP.  Also, just speculating, what do you guys think the effect would be on Rondo if KG came back in these playoffs?  Not suggesting there's any tension in the relationship but Rondo has really put his own stamp on the personality of the current KG-less Celtics.

I think the reason we're being ambiguous is so our opponents don't know if and when KG is coming back - even if he doesn't play at all it's to our advantage to have it in the back of the head of the teams we're playing that he could.

Did anyone here Ainge on WEEI yesterday? He went out of his way to specify that he did not say "KG is out for the playoffs" but rather "I'm not planning on his return" why did he feel this "clarification" had to be made? Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I'm getting the feeling he's preparing for the return of KG and didn't want any backlash because of a communication issue. KG has still yet to be shutdown and prepped for surgery and Ainge admitted that once KG was cleared by LaCerte he would be Ok'd by Doc and himself.

Well, this is what he has been saying all along (as has Doc), but people have constantly been misquoting them.  I really think Doc and Danny have both become very frustrated with the fact that their comments are constantly being misrepresented by people who are hearing what they want to hear, or trying to make it sound like they said anything new, when they really have been saying the exact same thing since shutting him down at the beginning of the playoffs.

I understand that, but with one not having the ability to edit the context of Ainge's words what is the sense of repeating it? He could have went along without saying anything and 2 things would happened:

1) KG remains out - In which case the perception would be true anyway.
2) KG comes back - In which case his words are reanalyzed and the gray area in his statement is discovered.

Why even bring it up? Listen to the interview and you'll find that Ainge brought up the KG situation out of nowhere.

I heard the interview, and I do think he wanted to bring it up to make the point, but it seemed more out of annoyance than anything.  He called Pete Sheppard out for completely misquoting the Globe article on it.

He and Doc have gone out of their way to try to keep the door open for a Garnett return without trying to give too much hope.

As for reading into it, I think you could argue from the rest of the interview that he really does not seem to think KG is coming back.  He said it is in the hands of KG and the Doctor, but he is still limping around when he is walking.

He is saying the exact same things they were saying 2 weeks ago.

Heard and witnessed it myself.  I'm in western MA and for the sports segment of the 6 o'clock news on ABC, the sports guy just blatantly tried to get people thinking KG was coming back.

They showed the highlights of the game and then showed the highlight of KG pointing at his watch.  He is obviously saying "we got time" but the sports guy tried to spin it and he said that he was saying "it's time."

He then goes "what is that?  could he be hinting at a comeback.  I don't know, we'll find out soon enough I guess"

Sources like this drive me nuts.

While I don't think we'll see him this series, I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the Conference Finals if we advance that far.

I was out last night at a bar after work, and kinda on the tipsy side. I hear one of my friends say something about KG and point to the television. They had on the local news (Western Mass), and the headline said something along the lines of "Time for KG to return," and showed a clip of him pointing to his watch (supposedly signaling its time). Now remember, we were all drinking and the TV was on mute. At that point, we started celebrated, thinking that KG was going to play in the next game.

I came home very late last night, early this morning and immediately checked celticsblog, espn, etc. I saw nothing, and got very upset. Can anyone tell me what the hell this sick joke was about? My friends have no idea either...

He pointed at a watch to say "We got time" to a stupid magic(they don't deserve capitalization) fan I'm pretty sure.
