Wow a long shiver has gone up and down my spine. This is a lightning rod of a pickup. I'm really excited about the possibility of what this will do for the 2nd unit.

Remember Marbury can be cut anytime, and he is going to be on his best behavior and determined to prove the world that he can still kick some tail on the court.

For those asking what we should do if Smith is bought out.... cut Giddens.

I'm going to be completely honest and put myself out there to be flamed to death for this on this blog but...

At this point I'd rather cut TA than Giddens.

I'm not going to flame you.  I think Giddens can be a good player, better than Tony.  I think Tony has reached his pinnacle as an NBA player.  But let us put this scenario into play.  Game 5 ECF and PP fouls out.  Who would you rather have on the court a guy that is a known liability but knows the schemes, knows his role and is not nervous because he has been there before, or a rookie who does not know the schemes, is unsure of his role and is playing with unbridled adrenaline?  For that reason and that reason alone I take TA.
Well, we can't really say that Giddens won't end up better, but there isn't really any evidence yet that he will ever be as successful in the NBA as NBA. Complete speculation only.

All we can say is TA has been able to contribute. JR hasn't.

Nothing wrong with wishful thinking though, so long as it doesn't guide decision making.

I don't think at this point we're going to get Joe Smith.

Yeah, otherwise why wouldn't it have happened by now.

I never wanted Tony resigned in the first place, it grates on me to watch him play. And I personally can't say he's contributed any more than I would expect any player to do in the minutes he's been given on this team. I also didn't see anybody splashing more than $1.5 a year on him, don't know why Danny gave him $5 over 2. But now, there's no way he gets waived. And he's not getting back for the playoffs, so he's just a dead roster spot. Roy mentioned the hit we'd take waiving Moore - if the Celtics waive TA, they're basically eating $6-7 million ($500,000 - $1 mil left this year, plus next year's $2.5, all doubled with the luxury tax). That won't happen.

If Joe Smith becomes available (and I'm not sure it happens, OKC may very well be keeping him), I really think Danny should bite the bullet and waive Moore. Not only because he would fit so well here, but because if Smith doesn't come here, he's probably going to Cleveland or San Antonio. Then again, it's not my money. So yeah, bostonfan's right, we're probably not getting him.

And back to topic, I'm excited to see the crazy Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline. play. I liked him when he was young, he clearly has problems, hopefully he can put them aside for four months to get himself another contract next year he doesn't live up to.
Go Celtics.

Knicks fans call Stephon Marbury "Cancer" but it will be a great encouragement for the modern medical science to see how Boston Celtics will cure this "cancer" by treating it properly!    :D  Thanks stupid knicks!!   ;D

I still cannot understand why Knicks werent able to get rid of his contract before trading deadline as many teams are looking to clean their books of big contracts.

I don't think Marbury would be such a bad locker room guy on the Celtics. Nothing Doc Rivers or the Big 3 can't handle. I think we'll be fine.

Marbury will definitely help the 2nd unit. Now we can move Eddie House to the 2 where he is comfortable.
PHX Suns: Russell Westbrook, Chris Bosh, Tristan Thompson, Trevor Ariza, Tony Allen, Trey Lyles, Corey Brewer, Larry Nance Jr., Trey Burke, Troy Daniels, Joffrey Lauvergne, Justin Holiday, Mike Muscala, 14.6

Wait wait when did you go back to wdleehi? That is a much more important question than any that can arise from Starbury.

All cancer starts from somewhere.  Marbury's may be caused by too much exposure to Isiah Thomas.

A lot of people have weighe in on this. Some cautious, some optimistic. Me, I'm going completely in the other direction. This is a BAD signing. I don't think there's anyway else around this. He's a joke, he's insane, an he lost his fastball years ago. Like the Mikki Moore signing but give Marbury a couple of weeks and this will all be about him. This is a flat out unmitigated disaster or an addition if this happens.

In regard to JR, say what you want but in a very limited sample size mind you he has already looked more comfortable on the floor than Bill Walker who often looks lost out there. I'd sooner cut TA. JR I have no doubt by next year could give you everything TA gives us now and more. He's more under control. He can hit a jumpshot. He's a much better ballhandler than TA. TA isn't even as athletic as he used to be which was a major part of what he brought to the team. You trade TA this offseason and go with Giddens for the future.

not bad....marbury will help with bench scoring

more like...he help with stagnating the offense, dribbling into triple teams and single-handedly killing ball-movement all while trying his hardest to prove he's better than Rondo. If I'm Rondo right now I'm growing eyes in the back of my head right now.

sorry but i think you are totally wrong...boston wasn't winning a title with the bench they had...danny did what we all screamed to do...and joe smith prolly isnt going anywhere...so who else do you sign? byron russell? horry?
