I'm okay with the experiment, it has enormous upside without as much downside as should be associated with a guy who has had problems throughout his career coexisting with teammates, including Kevin Garnett (who now will be relied on to keep him in check?). But if he doesn't disrupt chemistry, that's a lot of talent added.

Question - if Joe Smith becomes available, how quickly can we drop Mikki Moore?
Go Celtics.

The Knicks are terrible and were terrible in Marbury's years. The Celtics have an elite franchise with a top-notch starting lineup, coach, GM, ownership, etc. This is different.

They could drop him tomorrow, if they wanted.  They'd be 100% on the hook for his salary, plus luxury tax on that salary, though.  It's very unlikely that they take that hit.

Thanks, any word on what his contract is? Veteran's minimum?
Go Celtics.

I haven't seen anything, but that's what I'd assume.

Good. I think Marbury will be a decent addition. I don't see him causing trouble on this team because a) KG, PP and Ray will be on him in an instant and b) if he causes problems again no one will take another shot with him.

My brother, the Lakers fan, does the same.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

Let me preface this post by saying that I absolutely hate Marbury.

He's a talent, and he should greatly help. If he causes trouble, he will have very little impact on our team, so I don't see much of the risk many here are seeing. If he causes trouble, he'll be booted... it's as simple as that.

Haha.  You're applying logic and societal norms to Stephon Marbury.  I'm not sure that we can still do that with him.  The dude is completely insane.

Let's hope this works out.  I feel like we signed a ticking time bomb, but so long as he doesn't go off until after 16 playoff wins, I'll be okay with it.

Why is nobody asking the important questions:

Will there be a Boston Celtic line of his Starbury street shoes?!

I'm shocked that I have been able to come to terms with this over the last month or two. I can't stand the guy, but it might be entertaining to have a crazy person on the team.

I wonder if he will play at all with Rondo. If not, he would be limited to 14 mpg.

What is craziest about this is that if we win it all, Marbury would all of a sudden have a special place in our hearts as part of the team. It will be weird the first time I cheer for him, but I will. I'll cheer for any Celtics player.
