The only reason that this trade makes sense is because Sacramento is looking to dump salaries and with this deal, they are effectively doing that...

Ridiculous.  With BBD and O'Bryant gone, they get even smaller. Plus the Celtics are stuck with a 40 million-dollar obligation through 2013 for a guy who wasn't good enough to start for the hapless Bulls?

This deal is a Geoff Petrie wet dream, that's all.

Big Baby is losing us games.  O Bryant doesn't play, because he's worse than half the people in D-League.  Scal is Scal.   Tony Allen needed a brain transplant 4 years ago and is out for the season anyways.

Big Baby has single handedly lost us multiple games?

Well, wasn't the issue with Posey's contract the value, not the length?

Nocioni ought to still be productive in the last non-option year of his deal. Posey, not so much.
More importantly, Posey is a much better player.

Really?  Can I get confirmation of this from a non homer, please?  I'm curious.

I'm a non-homer. In fact, I could be a homer for Nocioni, he's the only NBA player I actually know personally. But what do you think he can do better than Posey on a basketball court? I'd say he's a better mid-range shooter off the dribble, but other than that...

Rondo  Marbury Pruitt
Ray    House   Giddens
Pierce Nocioni Walker
Garnett Powe   My shoes
Perk    Smith  My baby sister

P.S. Nocioni and Smith play good ball together in chicago too..

nocioni can attach the basket too
his slashing is underrated

I don't believe this though: Nocioni's contract goes for the next 4 seasons. Not signing Posey and now eating Nocioni's contract would be weird.
Agreed -- Not convinced Danny is willing to take that contract.
Its situatonal. he can bee a trade chip later...
A Super Scal.
I didn't realize his contract was like that.

"Super Scal"? I don't see much of a parallel to Scal, but I'm not one to lump all white players together. Nocioni is a bad@@@ and has a lot more he can do on offense.

i am talking contract as trade chip wise
Scal has never been a good trade chip. People just like to mention him because they want to get rid of him.

I don't see how a 4 year deal is a good trade chip.

Thats why I say SUPER because its definetly better
at least it has been shown that nocioni is a player some team wants
thats why the contract and the player related are good trade chips
but hey....your entitled to feel different
If I was Danny i pull the trigger without thinking

I like this but I dont think we would send four players over. I think maybe a three for one. Id love to have nocioni hes a great three that can play the four at some points. He is a great hustle guy and has the ability to knock down three pointers as well. If we could get him for Scal, Tony, and Baby I would do it in a heart beat.

Are you saying that POB is a deal breaker for you?  ;)

How can Sacramento do a 4-for-1?

Also, this trade makes no sense, in that it makes us weaker in the front court.  Nocioni is the type of player we could use, but only if Joe Smith was coming to fill BBD's slot.

TP, same thing i was thinking. Unless the wink wink, nod nod, is in with regardes to joe smith and the angry pickles. if thats the case, do it.

last time Joe Smith was involved in a wink wink nod nod, didn't Minnesota lose 3 draft picks?

Hmmm, I really like Nocioni's grit, skill and size at the 3. I'd love to add him to the team. But his salary is a bit high and long... What little depth we have would have to be gutted. ...Still tempted though...

He is more expensive than Posey was. But he is 3 yrs younger and a better player (i think). Tough call.

In this type of deal, you throw in POB like a useless toy in a kid's meal (i.e. potential).

Unfortunately, my kids place a very high value on the toy in the kid's meal.

Adam (Medford, MA): Any updates on the Celtics and Nocioni? Or anyone? Does Danny manage another amazing deal?

Chad Ford: (1:02 PM ET ) I don't think so. Celtics insist they aren't trading for Nocioni. Interesting because i think the Kings would do the deal.
