Adam (Medford, MA): Any updates on the Celtics and Nocioni? Or anyone? Does Danny manage another amazing deal?

Chad Ford: (1:02 PM ET ) I don't think so. Celtics insist they aren't trading for Nocioni. Interesting because i think the Kings would do the deal.

Looks like we aint getting the kid's toy.

Ridiculous.  With BBD and O'Bryant gone, they get even smaller. Plus the Celtics are stuck with a 40 million-dollar obligation through 2013 for a guy who wasn't good enough to start for the hapless Bulls?

This deal is a Geoff Petrie wet dream, that's all.

Big Baby is losing us games.  O Bryant doesn't play, because he's worse than half the people in D-League.  Scal is Scal.   Tony Allen needed a brain transplant 4 years ago and is out for the season anyways.

Big Baby has single handedly lost us multiple games?

LOL.  Then why do they have a better record than last year's team, after playing a tougher pre All star schedule?

He is more expensive than Posey was. But he is 3 yrs younger and a better player (i think). Tough call.

He's not even 2 years younger and he's not nearly as good of a player. I mean, people were worried about Posey being overpaid in the 4th year but aren't worried about overpaying Nocioni right since this very season?

The only reason I don't entirely buy this it's because they must really like him if they decided to eat his contract. But yeah, Nocioni is a somewhat toxic contract, of course he can be acquired for little.

Brickowski, are we agreeing on something? Never speak of this to anyone.

A significant fact might be that he has 5 less years of NBA miles on him and he is a year and 11/12th younger.

I love this deal.  I love Nocioni's game.  He's even better than Posey in my opinion.  This would be absolutely perfect!

Yep, Nocioni has more ball in him. Three years from now, i'd easily take him over Posey. On offense, I think Nocioni is a far better player (Posey spends most of his offense standing on the 3 point line - a lot less slashing then he was capable of). Posey's advantage is on defense though.

Again a tough call. Heck even the Posey for 3 or 4 years debate is a tough call. I don't see everything as black and white. A case could be made for going either way.

In this type of deal, you throw in POB like a useless toy in a kid's meal (i.e. potential).

Unfortunately, my kids place a very high value on the toy in the kid's meal.

depends on the toy - got hotel for dogs twice in a row, not a huge fan

Don't get me wrong... I appreciate what the guy did, but...

James Posey is very overrated on this board.

He's been playing pro-ball for longer than Posey. Plus, he's more dependent on his physical ability to produce.

I think Noccioni would be a fit IF we can sign both Marbury and Smith.

But
Noccioni is making 8 mil for 4 years I think, thats a lot of salary and will make it hard for the celtics to make many moves in the future .

I think there a lot better options as a wing who are a lot cheaper , but do the same kinds of things

I think Matt Barnes could be had for relatively cheap and is oly making 700K

I would love this trade. Scal is basically a towel guy/mascot, TA is done for the year and too inconsistent, POB is a waste of money, time and space and Big Fatty is terrible (Antoine Walker would be an upgrade).

Nocioni plays hard D, shoots the ball well, rebounds well and is a good guy to have. We could easily move him in a couple of years too.

This would be great.

Nocioni is being paid twice what he's worth.  He's undersized and can't create his own shot.

If the Kings threw in Spencer Hawes and an unprotected first rounder I might consider it.
