This is from Chad's Chat.

Dave - Boston: Celtics get anything done?

Chad Ford: (12:09 PM ET ) We keep hearing all morning that the Celtics were talking to the Kings about a deal for Nocioni. The Kings can move him again as long as they don't package him with other players on their roster. The Celtics would send back Scalabrine, Tony Allen, Glen Davis and Patrick O'Bryant. However, a Celtics source says there's nothing happening there. A Kings source, however, says it would be a possibility. I wonder why the Celtics WOULDN'T do that. Nocioni would be a great piece for them.

Just read that myself. Very interesting.

Of the players we'd give up, I'd miss Scal the most. Almost to the point of not doing the deal. Maybe.

im go ahead and field this one for you chad.

Because it guts two of our only viable bigs (baby and scal) as inadaqute as they may be, while giving us back a 3 that we could certainly use but hurts us in the 4 and 5 spots, where we are already weak. Unless sacremnto throws in a big or we are dead certain joe smith is going to be bought out, it makes us even smaller than we are now, and we are laughably small.

How can Sacramento do a 4-for-1?

Also, this trade makes no sense, in that it makes us weaker in the front court.  Nocioni is the type of player we could use, but only if Joe Smith was coming to fill BBD's slot.

i'd do that in a heartbeat!

you know that guys will get cut loose...yeah, it will lighten our roster up in the short term...

BUT, this is ALL about the playoffs.

nocioni is a [dang] good player that would be outstanding on this roster.  a big who can shoot and plays with energy.

This seems like a trade the C's would make at exactly three once the C's know Joe Smith hasn't been traded.
I need to post more so that I'm no longer characterized as Tony Allen

Have to agree with what many have said. If we can get Joe Smith, I would love to get Nocioni. We could go small with Nocioni at PF. He can shoot and beats up opponents. We need a dirty second tier player like Posey.

We also need a foreign player for a change.

This would be heavily dependant on follow-up moves from the Celtics. Can Noccioni play some PF to spread the floor there? Will we be able to land Joe Smith or someone like him?

I like Noccioni though.

Agreed and, IMO, we'd need another swingman. I like what Nocioni brings, but he's a liability defending the perimeter.

I don't believe this though: Nocioni's contract goes for the next 4 seasons. Not signing Posey and now eating Nocioni's contract would be weird.
