I hear all this talk about people being upset because the Lakers have a built-in excuse. Let's take a step back for a minute. What's worse? Being upset about the opponent having an excuse as to why they lost, or being the team with the devastating injury?
I would never wish injury on any player, but I'm not gonna lose sleep over an opponent losing a player to injury. I'm just gonna be thankful it didn't happen to one of our players, and continue on with the season.
The excuses thing is lame. Did the championship last year feel any less awesome because Andrew Bynum wasn't playing and the Faker fans gave that as an excuse as to why we beat them down? Nope. My shirts, flags, magazines, etc. all say "2008 NBA WORLD CHAMPIONS", not "2008 TEAM THAT BEAT THE LAKERS WITHOUT ANDREW BYNUM.".
It still counted as our 17th title, and it wasn't the first time we've beaten the Lakers in the Finals without them have a fully healthy team. And the reverse has happened as well. It happens all the time in sports.
