i was actually going to post a similar topic as this, but hadn't had a chance to yet today. i seriously want to puke when i hear lebron or mike brown whine about calls. i've never seen a team get so many calls as the cavs. jordan and the bulls didnt get this many calls, and they won 6 titles! and the "jordan rules" didnt really come into effect until MJ had actually won titles. again, something lebron has not done.
and what's sad about this is that i guarantee david stern will discipline that officiating crew behind the scenes. thus, we will now see the nba become even more of a mockery in its pathetic, relentless attempt to create a lebron vs. kobe NBA finals.
let's take a short trip down memory lane. first example: game 3 of the first round at washington in 2006. down by 1, lebron makes an up-and-under move to win the game in the final seconds. too bad he literally took FOUR STEPS, as anyone basketball fan watching live could see. yet he never acknowledged this, and even had the audacity (aka idiocy) to say it was the same move kevin mchale always did. and the cavs ended up advancing largely because of this horrible non-call.
second example: regular season game at the garden in 2006, the one where pierce scored 50, but the C's lost in OT. the defining moment of the game, which would later cause stuart scott to literally ejaculate on the set of sportscenter, came when lebron dunked over delonte west late in the game. however, the play started with pierce dribbling the ball against lebron at the top of the key. lebron lost his balance, grabbed pierce's jersey, and threw him to the ground. no wonder pierce lost the ball, which lebron later got for the dunk. how that call is missed is beyond my comprehension.
3rd example: the crab dribble episode. really? he took at least 5 steps in the sequence, and honestly thought it was legal. speechless.
look back to the playoff series vs. the cavs last year. that series was an absolute joke in terms of officiating. fortunately, the celtics (despite ray's bad shooting) were so much better than the cavs that they still won, albeit barely.
how about pierce in game 6 in the '08 ECF against detroit? he makes a great pump-fake, gets the defender in the air, then drills a 3 pointer as he's fouled, apparently earning a 4 point play. but no, the ref calls an OFFENSIVE FOUL!!! i don't think you'll ever see a call any worse than that. no other ref at any level in basketball would have made that call. boston was still down 10 at that point in the 4th quarter, and that would have been a huge momentum boost to cut the lead to 6.
and now...the difference between lebron and pierce...and between the cavs and the celtics...pierce and the celtics were p---ed/stunned at that horrible call, for sure. however, they got back on defense, kept plugging away, came back and WON THE GAME. you may remember that #17 was soon hung in the rafters.
how many banners does cleveland have?
