This topic will be revised @ the end of the week after playing Scal against Shaq & Howard.

my thoughts won't i'm not saying that scal should play against them, in my rotation i'd have KG guarding them for the minutes that scal is in at the 5.

No.

That said, we've seen that the starters work well with Scal and he feels less pressure so maybe the idea would be to make him play more time with them. But as i said, Perk should be the starting C

It's looking like Scal should play rotation minutes, but Perk will always be a better center against every kind of competition.

So no.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

The fact that this topic even exists proves that Scalabrine deserves strong consideration as our 6th man doesnt it? Used properly, he is an effective player. Not in all matchups, but who on our bench is really consistently good at their position against all matchups anyway?

Scary thoughts, Scal as our 6th man, first off the pine, main bench guy? A key to our team success? If we win a championship with him in that role it will be absolute pandemonium on this board. Love it. ;D

Even though I like the idea of him playing with our starters, I don't like it much when he plays with our bench, and when he plays SF. I think he's more useful when he plays the power positions so that he can take a big with him to the perimeter, and defensively we just manage with good defensive schemes and rotations.

I would start Scal at Center vs Shaq/Howard. He was beating everyone down the floor in New Jersey. He had a layup and a dunk and hit 2/2 3pts shots. We have become predictable and Scal starting gives us another dimension.(lol)  He is on fire right now and we gotta let him play. ;D

I do not like the idea of KG playing against the other teams big man for two major reasons.  1) He would ahve to muscle them potentially leading to him tiring early in the game and having no lift on his shot in the 4th.  I think this is important becuase we have seen this from KG in physical games this year. 2) KG is this teams best help defender.  This essentially stops him from guarding the high pick & roll & from protecting the lane. If he leaves his man we do not have the size inside to have a good matchup on the rotation.

This is very true.  When utilized properly Scal has played very well.  If we can get rid of the logjam of undersized 4/5's he could be consitantly used in Doc's small ball rotation.  He can play the 4/5 and spread the floor, something BBD & Powe cannot do.  This could even open things up for a guy like TA (crosses fingers) or Bill Walker.

This would not reduce their need for size inside but if they could add size they could play both big & small.  There ability to do that was a huge strength last year in the playoffs as they had the personel to play matchups either to a teams weakness or matchup against their strength.

I think you have to start BBD against these guys strictly due to his size.  If Doc was to start Scal & match him up against these guys and I was SVG or Porter I would just feed the man in the middle.  They would require a double down.  Amare & Orlando's shooters would have career days.

You're putting Scal on Amare? Lock up the women and children, it's going to get ugly.

ROF****! Perk Overrated?

Tell me ONE person who isn't a Celtics fan who thinks Perk is more than a garbage man?

If NE1 is overrated its Rondo. If the Celtics had either Derrick Rose or Devin Harris on the team ppl would laugh at the idea of Rondo being an allstar

well, it's been stated numerous times that tony allen plays better as a starter...

...so how 'bout putting ray allen on the bench for him too. ::)

Scal should not start when Perk gets healthy. However, he has shown once again that he is a basketball player, and knows his role well, and rarely tries to do something he is not capable of doing. He is a solid defender, is excellent at playing the rotations on D, and spacing the floor on O.  I just wish he would work more on his conditioning (he still seems flabby) and 3 point shooting. If he could improve his 3 point % another 5 points, he would be that much more valuable, and could play more crunch time in the end of games the way that Big Game did last year. But, heavy sigh, Scal is not Posey.

Are you talking about the Devin Harris that got shut down by Rondo 2 games in a row? The one who was so bad that his coach would not even start him in the second half and got to sit next to VC? Rondo has been discussed as an all-star by several people outside of the boston media. And most have noticed the correlation between Rondo playing well and the team winning. So I don't see how on earth Rondo is over-rated.

And also, plenty of people in the media (outside of the Celtics media) have noted Perkins importance to this team and have said he is far more than a garbage man.

Trust me if you put Rondo on the Nets he would be absolute trash. Take away layups and he would avg 4 ppg and still have nobody to pass too because his teammates suck except VC. If we had Devin harris on the Celtics we wouldn't haven't got stomped by the Lakers and Cavs!
