i really think that if we have more "garbage time" our younger players will be able to grow on the court. from this point forward if we can blow out bad teams instead of losing to them, all of our starters should be able to sit out the fourth quarter. then we can talke about Walker and POB.
Yeah, garbage time is very beneficial with this team in order to rest the old guys and develop the young ones.

The winding up and slamming down was the problem. It was a justified flagrant and we would have been saying the same had it been on PP or Ray or something. He wasn't trying to hurt the guy, but you can't wind up when you intentional foul like that. He just needed to reach across both arms at the elbows and hold down and it would have accomplished the same thing. I do like the fact that he was trying to make a good play and not give up the easy basket. They did go over the top with their comments about it. They tried to make it sound dirty which it wasn't.

He didn't play terribly in that last game, but he sure looked better in the first one. Funny how we don't have people clamoring about him taking TA's spot as much after that one... I'd still do it though, but after Gabe.

Who's clamoring?  Yeah there are a few posts from people who made some over the top assumptions and observations, but for someone who looks to have been on this board as long as you have you should be use to seeing it every so often.  For the most part it seems like the majority of the posts on this thread are just people expressing cautious optimism and satisfaction with the effort the guy put out in limited time, if you feel more of that or just as much of it needs to be expressed towards POB as well, thats fine, I even agree that hes been much improved that few times Ive seen him, but this thread has Bill Walker written on it.  There has been a lot of negativity about POB on this board, and a lot of it is well deserved IMO, but there are plenty of threads like this one praising POB and asking for more PT as well.

There were a huge number of people making some pretty loft comments about a guy after one decent game. He had a solid effort, but not deserving of the kind of praise that was being thrown out there. Way too over the top for one game. He followed it up with a game where he really wasn't very good. Typical of a rookie. I still think the guy has upside, but my comment earlier was that he had quite a few things I saw that made me realize why he went down to the D league.  I like his upside. POB on the other hand has strung quite a few good games together with some impressive shooting numbers along with good rebounding and shot blocking/deterring, yet very few will give him any credit at all. We just tend to get a little carried away about the production of guys we like, yet disregard the ones we had decided weren't that good.

bill walker showed me a lot tonight. he looks under control, and aggressive. i love it. i say play him more, more and more. we have to keep him.

that might actually be the reason we aren't playing him. we don't want to be split with the decision of either trading him or getting a vet.

If Bill can play at this level now, we don't need to bring in a veteran three, of course with Doc around the only way for Billy to get minutes is if he magically adds 4 years of experience. So I guess in the end, I'd like to trade TA and friends for a vet three (and I'd love a four, also) on a short contract.

The only thing i didn't like about bill walker was that he was floating out there a bit. But his dunks and other acrobats are always amazing.

He is also kocky but looks like he can back it up. (please don't compare him to kedrick brown who lacked the fire like this kid already has)

i think the reason he's floating is becuase he hasn't played with the team sinct training camp, and that its garbage time so Eddie, BBD, and Gabe are looking to make there shots.

(i wish gabe made that alley-oop last night so bad)

I haven't seen enough of him to judge yet, but one thing I worry about. If he thinks the NBA is just a glorified dunk contest, eventually some one from an opposing team is going to cheap shot him while he's up there showing off. If he's too cocky, he won't get the respect of the officials either.
But as for keeping him, I'll trust Doc and Danny to make that call.

God YES!!
Bill Walker has already proven to be a good defender, proven scorer, scrappy rebounder and plays within the team game.  The last is the big thing for me, rookie has been getting minutes in scrub time and his playing within the flow of the game not forcing shots (see GG).  He is an answer to backing up Pierce, along with TA and Scal.  Now we need to look to a C/PF sub, Joe Smith  ::)

easy here, slow down. the only thing he's proven is that he can drive to the basket in garbage time. he had 5 fouls in like 10 minutes to nights ago. he's not been rebounding, or doing anything but looking for dunks and oops.

we're all excited about his potential, but let's not get carried away just yet.

I like Bill Walker a lot, particularly his aggressiveness but I can't say at this point I agree with everyone saying 'he's a good defender.' I'm sure its a lot to do with rookie nerves but he seems to be caught in the air or out of place a decent amount of times.

Barring injury, Bill Walker is going to be in this league 4 years from now playing significant minutes for somebody. He's going to "get it" defensively because he wants it.

I definitely agree with this statement, I think he'll get it b/c he appears to have a good motor. But I've noticed quite a few times people commenting that its a foregone conclusion; he is either a great defender or will be one.

I havent really seen this out of him. I mean, he gets caught/beat sometimes, but alot of that is garabge time minutes. That goes both ways of course, when he looks good, we must also remeber the other team isn't exactly into it down 20.

Only way we'll know is if he gets meanigful minutes, which i don't think he's earning from doc anytime soon.
