that's a pretty cool scenario. lol. i'll be cheering my lungs out believe me. i just don't think we're equipped to take on cleveland. you ARE assuming they will be adding a VERY good player for wally, right? i think we can assume that DANNY figured this.

either way, to me even RISKING this just to have that dough to use elsewhere later on with where the big 3 are in their careers is just very hard to believe. i'm DEFINITLEY holding out hope that ainge is cooly sitting buy with some plan he had all along but i'm doubtful. you don't risk things like this, right? if they lose will you still say it was the right move?

i find it amusing that ainge was generally bashed all thru boston before putting this all together. now it seems that a lot of die hards and the majority of the casual sports fan thinks he did right with the posey move. baffling to me. i'm very ready to be wrong though. i am soooo ready. danny is my all time fave no matter what.

WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE MAKE UP A SCENARIO WHERE NOT SIGNING POSEY WORKS OUT FOR US? sorry bout the caps but there have been countless posts on this and people keep regurgitating the same stuff about "oh it woul have hamstrung us," oh it was too many years.." this started somewhere and people keep repeating it but i don't think i've ever heard anyone with a scenario.please. somebody.

We win the championship without Posey and didn't sacrifice much more of our future financial flexibility. How's that for a scenario that works for us?

The only thing I don't get is the "future flexibility" bit.  The only way future flexibility is really going to matter is if we're going to stay at a championship level for the next 5 years without ever dropping down a notch.  If even Ainge is going to segue from this era to another very successful era, there likely will be a down year or two where this team isn't a serious contender.  The worst Posey could've done was extend that from 1-2 years to 2-3 years, as we may have had to wait an extra year for him to come off the books to free up some FA room.

To me, that's a small sacrifice to make for a surer shot at a title.

Still, Ainge may come up with something.  I hope he does.  I just don't like the gamble given how small of a window this team has.  This could be (though I think they have another year or two) the last real shot this team has.

i'm reaching here but is raja bell in any way a possibility for us?  i have'nt really seen him play this year but i've always wanted this dude to wear the green. it would'nt seem we had anything the bobcats would want unless maybe raja has dropped off a lot, maybe larry brown likes bill walker?.wow i'm reaching.uggh.

Nobody was guaranteeing a title if we re-signed Posey.

The idea that the Posey situation is the product of some grand master plan is really pretty humorous.

 ;D

Ainge is a decent GM. He isn't a genius. He makes mistakes and Posey is most assuredly one of them.

True.  By no means would Posey guarantee a title.  Still, he would have undoubtedly made this team better.  Given the narrow window of opportunity for this team, that's enough to justify bringing him back.  Sure this team might win without him; but it also might now.  I'd rather play it on the safe side.

It'd be a different matter if the debate was whether we should have signed Posey or not.  The problem here is that it really came down to 3 or 4 years.  Hindering the C's chances of winning it all this year over a year or two of salary in a time when they likely won't be contending is rather silly in my opinion.
