Powe or Davis?

i feel bad for danny in the offseason if he has to choose one of big baby or powe to choose. For example like tonight, davis is playing alot better than powe. Other games powe is outworking davis.

Personally if davis lost a bit more weight i'd keep him. (his iq and footspeed is too good )

which guy would u want to keep if we had only 1 choice?

I've been saying all along that I think BBD is better than Powe and I like his potential better.  BBD has the potential for an all around game.  He can defend, rebound, remarkable passer for such a young big man, working on a jumpshot (which he will eventually get down with consistency as these are the shots he took in college).  Powe seems to be limited to his inside game which only works against certain matchups because of his size and he's not a good defender either.  I think Davis is more versatile and can be used in more matchups than Powe could be used in.

Oh, and BBD hustles his butt off every second he's on the floor.  IMO he's not as out of shape as some think.  No way this kid would be as quick and have as much energy if he was so out of shape.

Big Baby has simply been outplaying Powe recently. And by recently I mean for an already decent stretch. Powe is the better player, but right now Davis is just out-playing him - and that's why he's playing more minutes.

You may be right. But, he reminds me of a guy I used to ball with who outweighted me by a 60 lbs. The guy was incredibly nimble. Then, one summer he went into a program to lose weight.

He came back 50lbs lighter and became an unreal nightmare - strong, quick, explosive. That he unfortunately regained all the weight shortly thereafter may be a harbinger for things to come regarding BBD though.

I kinda think that they both suck pretty badly, really. I couldn't have been more excited to see Powe play after his strong finish to last season and his signs of real progression earlier this season but he's been a major let down so far.

And then Baby is jump shot happy, and he can't hit them on a consistent basis. If he's going to take those shots, I wish he'd just step back a few feet so if he does make a shot, it'll add an extra point... and then he'd even remind me of Antoine. Hard for me not to love Antoine.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Smith.

I think Powe is more limited, but will excel when playing with certain guys, like KG and Rondo. I think BBD will be a "what if" guy his whole career.

I'd keep Baby, I think Powe will be replaceable via the draft.  You have guys like Josh Heytvelt, Jeff Pendergraph and Jeff Adrien who will probably all be secound rounders and second round picks aren't hard to come by whether you buy them or offer future second rounders for them.  Although, all three will probably not be able to offer what Powe can in their rookie years, I could eventually see them contribute for teams in the league.

Powe is not the better player, that's why BBD has been consistently outplaying him.  Powe is the better low post scorer.

BBD has *not* been "consistently outplaying" Powe.  He's been outplaying him recently, but throughout the vast majority of last year, and for much of this season, Powe was the better player.

BBD has played generally well for 4 or 5 games now, but overall in his young career he's been extremely up and down.

People need to be reminded the BBD is a 2nd year player, while Powe is a 3rd year player.  BBD was smart enough to pick up rotations in his rookie year that Powe couldn't and was able to challenge Powe for minutes as a rookie.  This is another reason I like BBD better. I see BBD improving his game and seeing flashes of an all around game, where Powe has not improved his game at all since his 2nd year.

Baby is not jump shot happy.  These shots come in the flow of the offense and they want him to take them.  He keeps the ball moving very well in the flow, unlike Powe who has become somewhat of a black hole. Ainge was on wEEI last week and said they want Baby taking that shot because it will become very valuable in the playoffs.

Any reason you're listing rebounding as a skill for BBD and not for Powe, despite Powe outrebounding him?  Powe outrebounds his opponents consistently (+2.2/48 minutes), while BBD gets outrebounded by his (-1.6/48 minutes).

Any reason you're listing rebounding as a skill for BBD and not for Powe, despite Powe outrebounding him?  Powe outrebounds his opponents consistently (+2.2/48 minutes), while BBD gets outrebounded by his (-1.6/48 minutes).

That's one of the crappiest stats I've ever seen. Though Powe being a good rebounder is true, but judging a good rebounder based on outrebounding their counterpart opponent is complete crap, especially when you consider that the bulk of Davis opponents are centers.

I would still be happy with including BBD in a trade with Scal and TA for _____________ (fill in the blank).  That said, I am happy there have been fewer such trades proposed.

Kidding aside, I prefer keeping Powe.  BBD played well against Shaq last night, yes.  Now everyone is high on him.  Just like everyone was high on Powe after his monster game against the Lakers.  The reality is that if there is any chance at upgrading either, I would jump at it.  Barring that, my preference would be to trade BBD over Powe, although I suspect Cs might get more in return for Powe than BBD.
