Don't be shocked also to pretty much infuriate the sox boras and yankees are now working on signing tek to a 3 year deal at 30 million.

Paying 20 million dollars for the redsox pitching secrets is nothing

What would the Yankees possibly do with Jason Varitek?

jack all the pitching secrets out of tek. Pros and cons of all the hitters on the redsox team.

Tek in all other situations wouldn't leave the redsox to the yanks(and mess up the history he was involved in ending the curse) but he is divorced, prob has to pay alimoni and needs cash

You're gonna pay a guy who is nearly washed up $30 million over 3 years for "pitching secrets"?  Are you kidding me?

Fixed. I usually don't care for snarky posts like mine here, but I couldn't resist. triboy, if Tek could draw 30 mil from the Yanks, why hasn't anybody else around the league even made him an offer so far?

Also, does anybody understand what's going to happen with the comp picks owed Milwaukie, Toronto, and now LAA? If in some alternate universe the Yanks did sign Tek, what would get in compensation?

read my post above yours. What you modified for me is not what i was trying to say. if yanks get tek for what he wants, he will reveal everything about the redsox.

listen i was being sarcastic. But who knows its the yankees. Who in their right minds want to pay 30 million dollars in luxury tax?? but they still do with a smile

tek will be enourmous for the yanks to develop their young pitching staff and also have a good advantage over the redsox scouting report. (winning a couple of series in the regular season can mean playoffs or not)

The sox should go after Jake Peavey

Starting rotation of

1)Beckett
2)Lester
3)Peavy
4)Dice-k
5)Wakefield

Pitching beats hitting every time

Trade Bucholtz and a few other prospects for Peavy. We would have 3 - 4 aces while the Yankees have maybe 1-2

Yea, they all got screwed, lol.  The first rounder now goes to LA.
Milwaukee gets a second.  Toronto gets a third.

They are all p---ed, lol

not a bad idea. We would have a super rotation then. Not sure though how peavy will survive in the american league. Peavy to me is successfull not by raw talent but mainly preperation and studying hitters. Starting out fresh in the al could be disastrous for him in the first two years

Highly doubtful. If the Sox ever caught wind of that, it would be the end of the Boras/Sox relationship.  Boras knows he needs the Sox to help his clients.

A tell all Book?

What's "everything"? Do you attribute Beckett's success solely to Tek? The guy won a WS MVP in FLA 5 years ago while being caught by I-ROD, a guy notable with a rep for calling a bad game.

I don't subscribe to the idea that the Sox pitching staff success hinges on where Varitek's secrets. I'm not saying it's a non factor, but I think he's been way overhyped of late( Boras, Schilling). Where was his wisdom when the Rays pitched the Sox pants off last October?

Edit: I type slow and think even slower. I realize this response is from like, 12 posts ago.

redsox pitched well enough even without a 100 percent beckett. Its their hitting that killed them. They lost to matt garza twice

I think we can safely say that Jason Varitek is not in need of any cash.

Why am I even bothering to reply to the statement Jason Varitek would sign with the Yankees only for the sake of giving them "Red Sox pitching secrets" (whatever that means) because he needs to pay alimony? That's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in a long time.

Not even the slightest bit.  I feel confident that the Yankees gave the best contract offer, or Mrs. Tex wanted to live in NY.  Plain and simple.

Just like the mike mussina incident i see the redsox doing something to get someone via trade or just to get their spending hunger quenched.

I think it could be a decent move to try to sign pat burrell on a 3 year 35-40 million dollar contract

The guys average is less than impressive but he makes it up  with 30 plus home runs and has had a high obp for most of his career.

Not saying we really have to do anything like this, but i rather have 4 quality outfielders than 3 starting infielders fighting for 2 positions. With burrell also this provides safety in case ellsbury struggles again or bay was to be traded in the offseason.

What? Why the hell would we sign Pat Burrell? Where is he going to play? He's not going to sign with a team that has a fixed outfield...and the Sox aren't going to spend 40 million dollars on a 4th outfielder. Do you think these things through before you post them?

Yea, because the Yankees need another catcher...I don't think the Yankees need the Sox 'pitching secrets'.
